2018 Mr. Olympia Shawn Rhoden dies at 46.
Tragedy has hit the bodybuilding world with the shocking news of the death of 2018 Mr. Olympia winner Shawn Rhoden.
According to sources close to Evolutionofbodybuilding.net, Shawn Rhoden did not wake up from his sleep, which could mean the cause of death was allegedly a heart attack.
Born on 2 April, 1975, Shawn passed away at the age of 46.
Shawn started his bodybuilding career in 1999, but his first pro show would be in 2010.
Two years later, in 2012, Shawn would establish himself as one of the best bodybuilders in the world by winning four events and placing third at the Mr. Olympia.
As Shawn continued to establish himself as a threat to the defending Mr. Olympia, Phil Heath, Shawn continued to push forward.
Finally in 2018, Shawn would defeat 7X Mr. Olympia Phil Heath and become the 14th man in the history of the sport to lift the Mr. Olympia title.
Shawn’s celebrations would not last long as he had some personal legal problems that would end up destroying his career.
The former Olympia Weekend owner, AMI, took the decision to not let Rhoden defend his title the following year, and Jim Manion, did the same by suspending Shawn Rhoden until he clears his name.
Shawn’s 2018 Mr. Olympia victory would unfortunately be the last event he competed in.
The industry turned their back on Shawn Rhoden
Social Media has been flooded with messages about Shawn Rhoden, but the one that stood out the most ,was the one written by Sergio Oliva Jr. Sergio’s message was directed to all the industry leaders that walked away from Rhoden, when he needed them the most.
“I can’t even write this I can’t stop crying but I’m so fucking mad this industry and sport treated him like shit. Turned their backs on him so fast. God damn it!!!!!! Shawn was one of the best ones and he’s never gonna end up clearing his name. I can’t believe this. Fuck this stupid ass industry so quick to back stab and betray such a wonderful man while you praise the fakest people. No matter what he never gave up. Never! No matter how many people judged him. No one really fucking knew him. No one!!!!! Love you so much Shawn. I don’t understand why I don’t get it… I’m so angry, why you???!!!!” – Sergio Oliva Jr.
Many campaigned to get Shawn Rhoden back on the bodybuilding stage, but the people that run the Olympia and the NPC/Pro League, would not change their decision.
Now Shawn has died, claiming his innocence until he took his last breath.
