2021 NPC National Championships – Carlos Thomas Jr. wins overall title
The 2021 NPC National Championships was organized this weekend in Orlando, Florida. Carlos Thomas Jr. won the prestigious bodybuilding overall title.
The 2021 NPC Bodybuilding Championships was a special occasion as the NPC celebrated the 40th edition of this competition.
The first winner of this competition was Lee Haney. Lee Haney went on to become bodybuilding greatest champion by going on to win eight consecutive Mr. Olympia titles.
A little history about the NPC National Championships
With the NPC celebrating their 40th Anniversary of the NPC National Championships, we at Evolutionofbodybuilding.net believe it is very important that our readers are given a little history lesson.
The first NPC National Championships in 1982 was not a easy event to organize. Sources close to Evolutionofbodybuilding.net alleged that there was a legal battle between the organizers of Mr. America and the NPC.
The NPC organizers wanted to use the “Mr. America” name for their contest, but this would mean they would face a legal battle after the event.
Sources close to this website revealed that a quick name change to NPC National Championships would be made and at no time during the event would the name “Mr. America” be mentioned.
All posters would be changed leading up to the event, but advertising printed in newspapers could not be changed. It was agreed with the Mr. America organizers that the name would never be associated to the NPC again.
Leading up to this weekends event, many refrained to mention that it was actually Mr. Olympia’s greatest promoter ever, Wayne DeMilia, who had a big part in organizing the first NPC National Championships in 1982.
A very young Jim Manion and his team did not want to take the risk with a legal battle, but it was Wayne DeMilia that pushed forward and took all the risks to make this great event a reality.
Nobody can change history and nobody can erase the fact that if it wasn’t for Wayne DeMilia, the NPC would not be where it is today.
While many are congratulating the people involved, we at Evolutionofbodybuilding.net believe that Wayne DeMilia should have been given a special award for this occasion, regardless of who he is working with today.
Jim Manion went on to invest and grow this competition to become the most prestigious amateur event in the USA.
The best bodybuilders in the history of the sport launched their successful careers thanks to Jim Manion and the NPC national Championships.
Carlos Thomas Jr. becomes Number 40
Carlos Thomas Jr. is the new NPC National Championships Overall Bodybuilding winner. Competing in one of the best NPC National Championships in recent years, winning the overall title was not a easy task for Carlos.
Competing in the Super Heavyweight category, Carlos had to do battle with a lineup consisting of 24 of the best Super Heavyweight bodybuilders in the USA.
Breathing down Carlos Thomas Jr’s next was Nathan Spear, another incredible athlete.
Both Carlos and Nathan would earn their Pro status withing the NPC/Pro League.
These two great athletes will surely move on to have a great future within the NPC/Pro League. They both present a balanced physique with incredible aesthetics. Hopefully they don’t play the size game and lose their symmetry.
