2022 Tampa Pro – Akim Williams edges past Kamal Elgargni to win.

The last day at the 2022 Tampa Pro was an incredible spectacle, with some of the best bodybuilders in the world fighting for the top prize and Mr. Olympia qualification.

The promoters of the 2022 Tampa Pro, saved the best and biggest competitions for the final day of events.

The live-up of competitions for the final day were Open Bodybuilding, Bikini, Wellness and Fitness.

Focusing on the Open Bodybuilding event, this event was very important for the athletes as they were not only focused on winning, but also to win their ticket to the 2022 Mr. Olympia.

The line-up was deep for the the Open Bodybuilding event with 14 top bodybuilders registering for the event.

Former 212 Olympia champion Kamal Elgargni was a late entry that shocked the bodybuilding world. Kamal decided to try his luck in the Open Division, knowing that a conditioned and balanced physique can defeat bodybuilders much bigger than him.

It was evident from the beginning of the event, the battle for the top two places was going to be between Kamal Elgargni and the much bigger Akim Williams.

The judges had a very difficult task to decide between the much bigger Akim Williams and Quinton Eriya to the much smaller but super conditioned Kamal Elgargni.

The judges made the bodybuilders work hard on stage, comparing them in every pose and switching between Kamal and Akim for the center spot.

Going through each pose between the top three, it was evident that Akim Williams had that little extra to defeat Kamal.

Both Kamal and Akim were in fantastic condition, but the judges decided that the bigger, condition and balanced, Akim Williams deserved the top prize and Mr. Olympia qualification. It would be Akim’s second Tampa Pro victory.

After the event, Akim confirmed to Muscular Development’s Ron Harris, that he was in a very serious car accident a few weeks before the show and he suffered a serious shoulder injury.

Going into the show, the majority of media and bodybuilding stars predicted Kamal to win the event, but nobody expected Akim to arrive in such great condition. Akim was just overpowering Kamal in every pose when they stood next to each other.

Kamal might be slightly disappointed for missing out on the top prize, but at 51, Kamal proved to the bodybuilding world that he can still compete for the top prizes. A few days before the Tampa Pro, Kamal confirmed that he will be competing at the 212 Olympia, to try and win back his title.

Kamal also confirmed after the event that he will be competing at the 2022 Texas Pro.

Finishing in third was Quinton Eriya. Quinton also presented a great physique. Some believed he could have switched places with Kamal or even challenge for the victory.

We believe Quinton needed that little extra to move up to second and challenge for the top spot. He can still add more muscle to his tall frame, and when makes the small improvements needed, he will easily challenge for the top spots without any problems.

Other fan favorites competed in the event, such as Morgan Aste (10th place), Seung Chul Lee (9th place) and Roman Fritz (11th place).
