Show promoters allegedly furious over new fees.
Bodybuilding and fitness show promoters, are allegedly furious over the new fees that have been added to their already heavy financial burden.
Sources close to Evolutionofbodybuilding.net, have revealed that the NPC have allegedly added a new fee to the list of other expenses show promoters have to deal with.
When a promoter organizes an amateur event within the NPC, they allegedly have to pay the NPC, which is owned by Jim Manion, a sanction fee and and take care of all the expenses and fees of the judges.
Sources have informed Evolutionofbodybuilding.net, that just recently, the NPC have allegedly added a $5 “Athletes Fee” for every athlete that registers for a competition.
Evolutionofbodybuilding.net received a copy of one of the invoices sent to a show promoter.
According to sources, a number of show promoters within the NPC are allegedly furious with this new “Athletes Fee” that has to be paid.
Not only are the promoters allegedly furious about the new “Athletes Fee”, but they are not happy with the way they are bullied into paying this new athletes fee.
The message reads: “Please note: If not paid within 2 weeks, a late fee will be accessed or your 2023 sanction will be effected.”
The “Athletes Fee” applies to amateur events within the NPC, and payments are to be made to NPC Worldwide, as indicated on the invoice.
Thousands of amateur athletes compete each year within the NPC, and allegedly charging $5 per athlete, will make the NPC a good profit .
While the NPC will be counting the cash, the show promoters will have a harder time to make a profit or breakeven at their events. The new “Athletes Fee” could be the final nail in the coffin for a number show promoters.
Not the first time NPC promoters threatened
The tone of the message sent to the promoters, in regards to the “Athletes Fee”, is very similar to the letter sent to the same promoters in 2020.
In 2020, during the peak of the pandemic, the NPC sent a letter to all show promoters.
In the letter, Jim Manion expresses how happy he is with the NPC promoters that did not cancel their events.
Manion expressed a different tone for the promoters that had to cancel their events.
The NPC President criticized the NPC promoters by putting the NPC brand in a bad light, after they cancelled their events.

“By not promoting your contests this year, you are sending athletes the wrong message. You are also sending the NPC a message as well”, explained Jim Manion.
Manion continued to show his disappointment in his conclusion.
“You can interpret this message anyway you like, however please note that I will remember those promoters who supported the NPC brand and our athletes during these difficult times. I will also remember the promoters who have not. Sanctions are issued on a year to year basis at the discrection of the NPC National office”, concluded Manion.
The “Athletes Fee” will push promoters out
If a promoter manages to register 1000 athletes for their event, they would allegedly have to pay the $5000 “Athletes Fee” to the NPC.
This added alleged fee will be a burden to the promoters, and this could push some of the promoters to leave the NPC entirely.
The alleged fee will also cut into the prize money paid to the pro athletes, if a pro show is organized at the same event.
How will the NPC use the “Athletes Fee” collected to better the sport?
Will the “Athletes Fee” collected be invested back into the athletes?
Can the “Athletes Fee” be invested back into Live Streaming for amateur events?
These are just some from many questions that need to be answered by the NPC.
Unfortunately, this is putting the NPC brand in a bad light, and if this continues, the show promoters will eventually walk away and join other federations.
