“I’m taking my 212 Olympia title back in Vegas” – Kamal Elgargni

2019 Olympia 212 winner, Kamal Elgargni, has confirmed to Bob Cicherillo that he will be competing at 2022 Olympia Weekend, in the 212 Division.

Just earlier this week, the bodybuilding world was buzzing with the news that Kamal will be moving up to the Open Division, at the 2022 Tampa Pro.

With the news of Kamal competing in the Open Division at the Tampa Pro, a number of media outlets, including this site, was speculating if Kamal wins and competes in the Open Division at the 2022 Mr. Olympia.

Kamal is not the only 212 competitor moving up to the Open Division, 2020 Olympia 212 champion, Shaun Clarida, is already qualified for the Mr. Olympia and the 212 Olympia, but he can only compete in one of the events. Shaun still has not confirmed where he will be competing.

Even the current 212 Olympia winner, Dereck Lunsford has been in the news regarding the Open Division. Derek has made some incredible gains in the off-season, and many are doubting if he will make the weight for the 212 Olympia, to defend his title.


Retiring after winning the Masters Olympia title

Bob Cicherillo has also confirmed that the Masters Mr. Olympia, will return in 2023, possibly in Bucharest.

The last edition of the Masters Mr. Olympia was won by Dexter Jackson in 2012.

Only been 10 Masters Mr. Olympia events organized since 1994. Vince Taylor is the Master Mr. Olympia king with five titles to his name.

Kamal also confirmed that he will compete at the 2023 Amateur Master Olympia, with the goal to win the title. If Kamal does succeed, he also confirmed that he will retire from competitive bodybuilding.

At the age of 50, Kamal can still go head to head with bodybuilders half his age. Going into the 2022 Olympia Weekend, Kamal will be a favorite to challenge Derek Lunsford for the 212 Olympia title.
