Roelly Winklaar undergoes shoulder surgery… comeback in doubt.

Roelly Winklaar, one of the industries most popular bodybuilders, confirmed that he had to have shoulder surgery in Brazil.

Winklaar is known for his freaky size and condition, but in the past year, Roelly disappeared from the bodybuilding scene. Roelly’s last competition was in 2021, at the Romanian Pro, where he placed a disappointing ninth place.

A memorable performance for Roelly Winklaar was in 2018, when he finished in third, behind the late Shawn Rhoden and seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath. Roelly also was the first winner of the “People’s Champ” award.

Winklaar lost substantial size in the past year, and he confirmed that he could not train for a year, due to his shoulder injury.

Even after having successful surgery on his shoulder, Roelly is still not sure if he will every return to the competitive bodybuilding. Being away from the highest level of competition, and even the gym, it will be very hard to get back to his best.

“I want to explain to everybody what’s happening with me and hope everybody [don’t] ask me things. I hope everybody sees this so they don’t ask me more of what’s happening with me. I don’t train like more than a year. I don’t train anymore. Why, because I have a shoulder injury that’s [been] going on for three years.

“Exactly last year, I had to completely stop [training] because of too much pain. I find somebody that can fix it for me in Brazil. I want to thank Arrieta for that and the doctor too who brought me to those solutions,” Roelly Winklaar said.

“Everybody asking me why I lost weight, what’s happened, when will I compete again, when will I train again — it’s not allowed. I have too much pain. We will see if it will be better or not.”

“I [went] to the surgery. I waited for the doctor. I’m very healthy but my shoulders don’t work with me. That’s why I needed the surgery. It’s the left shoulder and we’re going to do it [heal successfully]. I’m going to be fine again.”

“The surgery [went] perfect. Surgery is done. It was a long surgery, like five hours. To find things that no one was accepting to be there. I want to thank the doctor who helped me out with this. Let me see where it ends,” Roelly Winklaar said.

“I’m done and I go home. It was successful because I don’t have the pain that I had before. I feel great. Just gonna say to the doctor [again] thanks.”

Winklaar was very happy with the surgery, as he confirmed that he is not feeling the pain as he did before he went under the knife.

We at Evolutionofbodybuilding.net wish Roelly Winklaar a speedy recovery, and hopefully we will see him on the bodybuilding stage again in the near future.
