Big Ramy responds to his critics… suggests he will not retire.

Two-time Mr. Olympia champion, Big Ramy, has been heavily criticized after losing his title at the 2022 Mr. Olympia, and finishing in fourth place at the 2023 Arnold Classic.

Big Ramy was the favorite to win the 2022 Mr. Olympia, but the younger athletes, and a inform Hadi Choopan, ruined Big Ramy’s dreams of winning his third consecutive Mr. Olympia title.

It was expected that he would skip the 2023 Arnold Classic, but the desire to prove that he is still capable of winning, and the fantastic prize fund, convinced Ramy to compete.

Fourth place was the best Ramy could do in Ohio, fueling calls for him to retire or take a long break.

“The Voice of Bodybuilding” and Athlete’s Rep., Bob Cicherillo, gave a vary accurate analysis of what options he has available for his future in the sport, but it seems, Big Ramy did not understand what Cicherillo was trying to say.

Nobody is forcing Big Ramy to retire or take a break from competition

The sport of bodybuilding is built on criticism, it can be a very harsh, but the backbone of the sport is criticism.

Big Ramy is at a critical point in his career, he has to sit down and make a plan of what he wants to do next.

Ramy is not getting any younger, which means he has to take care of his body, and maintain the physique he has, with the hope of winning another major title.

As explained in our previous article, Big Ramy is not getting any younger, which means he he will not getting the results that he wishes, and as well, his body is not the same as it was 10 years ago, when he was at the top of his game.

In a recent video message on his official social pages, Big Ramy immediately responded to the advice he was given.

“Hey guys, I need to talk about something today, I heard somebody says he needs to me to be retired from the bodybuilding world, needs me to stop doing any shows anymore. I don’t know this advice for what, I think I did well with shows this year.”

“I think I respected everyone the last 10 years when doing this game, and in the end, I don’t hear about this advice to come to any bodybuilder before. I don’t know why. I don’t know for any reasons. But I think I did well all my life. I think the last show, I did my best and I come in the best version for me.”

“I just need to say that because already I believe in myself and I think that I did well. In the end, I don’t know why this advice comes just in the end, I respect everyone, but I need to say something, I did this sport because I love it.”

“If someone don’t like me to compete, why didn’t you give this advice for some people before? I don’t know why. But anyways, I will say, I love everyone because it’s my personality like this. I never change it to nobody else because I’ve always said in that way, that is the only way to have a nice life and love the people and respect everyone, thank you,” concluded Big Ramy.

It seems that Big Ramy did not understand the advice that was given to him. Nobody is forcing him to retire or take a long break, it was just advice, based on what other champions had to go through near the end of their career.

Big Ramy might believe that he was at his best at the 2023 Arnold Classic, but his best is no longer good enough to win titles at this time, and this is a fact.

It is obvious Big Ramy loves the sport of bodybuilding, and nobody would have every told him to retire 10 years ago, when he was at his best.

The advice or lets say criticism given to Big Ramy is not a sign of lack of respect. Big Ramy is the most respected and humble bodybuilder in the entire industry, but he has to be realistic and think about his future.

Is it possible Big Ramy will be happy placing out side of the top three or possibly top five?

This would be a hard pill to swallow, after dominating the sport for two years, as as a two-time Mr. Olympia winner.

Big Ramy is one of the most respected bodybuilders in the world, he should just listen to the advice given, but at the end of the day, it’s his career, and he is the only one that can make the final decision.

Big Ramy is not the only bodybuilder who has a problem with criticism/advice. It has become a trend to call out the media, when they talk about certain athletes, or give a review of a show.

Athletes from every other major sport are criticized for hours after a match. They take the criticism and move on, but unfortunately, the sport bodybuilding is different.

The media is either banned or blocked by the athlete, or even banned by a federation in some instances; all this for expressing their opinion.

If this sport is to move forward, the athletes have to show more respect to the media.

It is the media that promotes the sport and athletes, and unfortunately, the majority of bodybuilding media do this job for free.
