One of the most popular bodybuilders in the industry, Blessing Awodibu, won the 2022 Indy Pro without a major sponsor.
The bodybuilding industry has changed drastically in the the last 20 years. The industry can be ruthless and ruin a pro bodybuilders career before it even starts.
In a recent interview on a popular YouTube channel, Blessing Awodibu revealed that he was fired from Redcon1, six weeks before his victory at the 2022 Indy Pro.
At the time of publishing this article, Awodibu is still without a major sponsor. Awodibu’s stock has increased with his victory and he is now going into the 2022 New York Pro as a favorite to win the event.
If Blessing was achieving this success 15 to 20 years ago, he would be a very rich man with the lucrative contracts supplement companies were offering.
Fast forward to 2022, it seems that the majority of supplement companies becoming more mainstream, ignoring the hardcore bodybuilding.
In his latest interview, Awodibu revealed that Redcon’s Aaron Singerman, was the person that gave him a chance and brought him over to the USA.
When Awodibu left his first major sponsor, Aaron was the person that helped Awodibu launch his career in the USA. With the financial support of Redcon1, Awodibu had a place to live and a weekly income.
But all good things eventually come to an end. A few years after Awodibu signed with Redcon1, Aaron Singerman ended up in jail.
Singerman was sent to jail for 54 months after a lengthy investigation. Singerman was charged for conspiring to sell illegal anabolic steroids and other products marketed as dietary supplements that were unlawful under federal law.
One by one, Redcon1’s top athletes were allegedly either fired or they left the company on their own, after Aaron Singerman started his jail sentence.
Not even Awodibu’s popularity could save him from allegedly getting fired from Redcon1.
Surely a number of supplement companies that support the hardcore bodybuilder, will be keeping an eye on Blessing Awodibu.
Blessing Awodibu will most likely still be without a major sponsor at the 2022 New York Pro, but if he does win the event, surely he will be offered a major contract by a supplement brand.
