Evolutionofbodybuilding.net is saddened by the news that bodybuilding star Johnnie Morant has passed away.
At the time of publishing this article, the cause of death was not known.
Johnnie Morant was a popular bodybuilder between the mid 80’s and mid 90’s.
Starting his amateur bodybuilding career in 1986, Johnnie placed second in the Heavyweight division at the NPC Junior Nationals.
Johnnie continued to fight for his pro card in 1987 and 1988, but missed out out by placing second at the USA Championships in 1987, and third at the North American Championships, and the USA Championships in 1988.
Finally, in 1989, Johnnie won the overall title at the North American Championships, and placed first in the Heavyweight category at the NPC USA Championships.
Johnnie started to compete as a pro within the IFBB Pro League in 1990, and placed tenth at the German Grand Prix, ninth at the Italy Grand Prix, and fourth at the Night of Champions.
In 1991, Johnnie Morant decided to switch over the the World Bodybuilding Federation, where he placed ninth at the WBF Grand Prix.
After the WBF closed its doors, Johnnie returned to the IFBB Pro League, and continued to compete in 1994 and 1995.
Johnnie’s fourth place finish at the 1990 Night of Champions was his best result as a professional bodybuilder.
