10 years after BodyPower was launched by events veteran Nick Orton and his business partner Ollie Upton, one of the partners has made a partial exit from the hugely expanded fitness media group.

Having completed a sale of half his holding, to a private investor, Ollie Upton will now step down as Chief Operating officer and take a break from business to spend more time with his young family. Upton hasn’t ruled out his return to the industry, stating “I plan to enjoy as much time with my wife and kids as possible. I’m not ruling out a return to the industry, but it’s not a priority right now. I’m still a shareholder and director of BodyPower, so it’s not the last you’ve seen of me!”

Around 15 years ago Ollie met Nick Orton, serial entrepreneur and CEO BodyPower, at the gym that they trained at. The pair hit it off and went on to develop numerous successful businesses. In the exhibition sector, they launched, and subsequently sold, The Pharmacy show, The Dentistry Show, The London Vet Show and a stable of popular consumer shows including the Sports Car shows and the Fast & Furious car shows.

Nick Orton said “I will miss Ollie. For 15 years I’ve had him by my side, sharing ideas, responsibilities and risks. We’ve had an amazing time and so it’s going to take some getting used to not having him around as much, however, I’m thrilled for him and wish him all the best for the future, maybe we will work together again, who knows…”
