British bodybuilder Shaun “Dinosaur” Davis dies at 57.

British bodybuilding star, Shaun “Dinosaur” Davis, has passed away at the age of 57.

Shaun Davis was a very popular bodybuilder in the 90’s, an era which some believe was the most exciting time to be a pro bodybuilder.

According to sources close to Evolutionofbodybuilding.net, Shaun was allegedly suffering from kidney issues. According to sources, Shaun was allegedly on dialysis three times a week, before he received a kidney transplant in 2009.

Numerous bodybuilding legends, such as Lee Priest and Milos Sarcev, shared stories of the great times they spent with Shaun during the peak of his career.

Lee Priest

“Saddened to hear the loss of a good friend and bodybuilder Shaun the dinosaur. We were with Prolab together and traveled to many events. Did a tour around UK and Ireland together, and he stayed with me in the USA. Oh the fun times and crazy stories.”

“Was just talking about him at the airport today and yesterday in Rome as a football game was on and some fans got a pic with me so I started talking about Shaun and his love of the game. Condolences to his family daughter Harley and friends. RIP LEGEND. Got my first tattoo with Shaun. He @_chriscormier and I went to the tattoo shop. He hit a British bulldog I got Superman S and Chris said see you suckers later and left us laughing.”

Milos Sarcev

“Another sad day in our Brotherhood of Iron Community. Shaun Davis, IFBB Pro from UK has passed away at the age of 57. I met Shaun in 1996 touring in England with Sonny Schmidt (RIP ) and we instantly became friends. He was just one of those guys you meet and half an hour later you feel like you have known him for decades.”

“He was competing at the NABBA Universe that year, and won the Pro show (beating Dennis James, Eddie Elwood, and Joe De Angelis…) but Sonny and I convinced him that IFBB is the way to go… and he won the British Championships that year and turned pro. The following year – he competed in 5 shows I was in (1997) we hung out together and always had fun. Many great memories. I am truly saddened to know he is gone. Sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.”

Bodybuilding Career

Shaun had a very successful amateur bodybuilding career, winning numerous WABBA, NABBA, and IFBB titles.

Competing as an amateur for approximately eight years, Shaun went on to win the WABBA European Championships Tall Class in 1989, NABBA Mr. Universe Tall Class in 1990, and finally he won the NABBA Universe Pro in 1996, and moved over to the Pro League after he won the overall title at the IFBB British Championships in 1996.

Competing in the Pro League was not an easy task, considering some of the best bodybuilding in the history of the sport were at their peak during those years.

Competing in the Pro League from 1997 to 2002, Shaun’s best placing was 10th at the Czech Republic Grand Prix in 1997. Kevin Levrone went on to win that show, with a lineup that consisted of Chris Cormier, Nasser El Sonbaty, Ronnie Coleman, Lee Priest, Paul Dillet, Vince Taylor, Milos Sarcev, and Thomas Zechmeister.

Regardless of his placings, Shaun was a favorite with the fans and fellow competitors. The bodybuilding has lost another star.
