Who makes RUT Testosterone Booster?
Bucked Up was founded in 2013 and has gone from being a small shop to a company selling its products in over 10,000 stores around the world.
Owned by twin brothers, Bucked Up say it’s their priority to provide the highest quality products for their ever-growing customer base.
They believe in creating products that work and say they stand behind each one of them 100%.
Their mission is to become a leading supplement provider.
What are the benefits of RUT Testosterone Booster?
RUT’s claims that it has been “formulated to help give you an advantage in life and in achieving your goals”.
RUT Testosterone Booster is claimed to:
- Boost strength and gym performance
- Improve results from your workouts
- Increase sleep quality, recovery and metabolism
- Improve libido
- Have scientifically proven ingredients at optimal doses
As always, analysing the formula is the only way to find out if the manufacturer’s claims aren’t overhyped or overmarketed.
Let’s dive into the ingredients to find out!
Exploring RUT Testosterone Booster’s Ingredients
There are exactly 8 ingredients in this test booster, 4 of these are vitamins and minerals which is quite unusual as most similar products lack vitamin and mineral content. Well done!
The capsule itself is also quite unique in that it has only a few natural ingredients.
These ingredients are:
- Veggie capsule
- Rice flour
- Magnesium stearate
- Olive oil
What stands out here is the fact that Bucked Up seems to be one of the few companies that are now moving from the ‘traditional’ bovine gelatine capsules.
That is great as it means RUT is vegetarian friendly.
So let’s now explore the main ingredients in a little more detail and see if their claims are backed up.
Ashwagandha Extract (as KSM-66) 750mg
Proven to increase strength and body composition, ashwagandha has been widely used in many popular test boosters.
This powerful Indian herb is also capable of lowering cortisol by a whopping 30% (1).
Cortisol is a stress hormone caused by the ‘fight or flight’ reaction that occurs when we are subjected to stress. It is made in the adrenal glands (just on top of the kidneys) and it increases glucose in the blood. This is to support (or feed) the brain, preparing it for ‘a fight’ (and giving it more focus).
Cortisol is also produced when exercising, fasting or even waking up in the morning!
When it comes to ashwagandha, one study showed that taking the root for 8 weeks, increases testosterone levels (when also participating in a weight-lifting program) (2).
Organic Tribulus Terrestris (95% Saponins) 750mg
T.Terrestris’ chemical component called saponins, is often cited as a natural steroid and testosterone enhancer.
Unfortunately, no studies to date have confirmed the plant’s abilities to increase testosterone or aid in sports performance.
So, from a scientific point of view, adding T.Terrestris to test boosters only increases libido, not test levels.
Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma Longifolia) 200mg
Even though Tongkat Ali has been proven to increase muscle mass, testosterone levels and help with infertility, its effects were mainly studied on men over the age of 50. (3)
Still, the study showed that just 1 month of daily supplementation with 200mg of Tongkat Ali helped to increase testosterone levels significantly (3)
So is it effective? It can be, but potentially only for older males.
DIM (Diindolylmethane) 100mg
Diindolylmethane (or DIM) is a compound praised for its abilities to lower estrogen in males.
However, according to our research on DIM, I3C (DIM’s precursor) is actually a much better alternative.
Why? Well I3C contains other molecules within itself, which make for a much more complete end product. As a bonus, I3C is also 100% natural (4).
Additionally, 100mg of DIM is too little an amount to actually have any effect.
As for the Vitamin and Mineral content, RUT Test Booster contains:
| Amount Per Serving | % DV* |
|---|---|
| Vitamin D3 (As Cholealciferol) | 5000IU 1250% |
| Iron (as Ferrous Fumarate) | 60mg 333% |
| Zinc (Zinc Amino Acid Chelate) | 30mg 200% |
| Vitamin B9 (as Calcium 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate) | 400mg 100% |
This product has a lot of zinc.
Normally, 20mg is more than enough zinc (over 180% of your RDA).
We’d therefore suggest skipping additional multivitamin if you’re taking this product (or most other test boosters in general), as those will almost always contain even more zinc (5).
Is anything missing?
As we already established, the RUT Testosterone Booster could do with having added I3C. Alternatively, I3C could be used as a replacement for DIM.
As the RUT Booster has high levels of Vitamin D3, adding Magnesium and K2 to the formula could help avoid calcification (accumulation of calcium in the body).
For sleep improvement, we would recommend Magnesium, as it has been shown that low levels of this important mineral are associated with insomnia (7).
What’s the dosage?
It’s advised to take 3 capsules a day with food (preferably in the morning), and unlike many test boosters, RUT doesn’t have to be cycled.
Great, thatt’s nice and easy!
RUT Testosterone Booster is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18, pregnant or breastfeeding or for those suffering from chronic (long-term) conditions.
Does RUT Testosterone Booster have any side-effects?
So let’s talk about consuming too much zinc, shall we?
The upper limit of daily zinc consumption is 40mg (that’s from all sources, including food).
Taking too much zinc for long periods can cause (9):
- Nausea and vomiting
- Stomach cramps and diarrhoea
- Headaches
- Lower immunity
- Low copper levels
- Low HDL cholesterol (the ‘good’ kind!)
What’s also worth noting is that taking too much zinc alongside certain antibiotics (namely quinolone or tetracycline) can cause their reduced absorption.
So for example, if you take penicillamine (for arthritis), high doses of zinc can impair the absorption of the medicine.
Be mindful of all this information when you are thinking about buying a test booster.
How much does RUT Testosterone Booster cost?
You can buy RUT Test booster for $69.95 with no shipping costs.
Bucked Up also offers a payment plan, where you can make 6 small weekly payments.
There are 90 capsules in the bottle, which means that if you take the supplement according to instructions, it will last you exactly 30 days.
Unfortunately, this seems to be the lowest price available we could find but they may put it on offer in the future.
At the time of writing this review, the product is also out of stock on the Bucked Up website and a few other sites.
If you are keen to get your hands on this product then you may want to look at eBay or similar sites for availability.
Is RUT Testosterone Booster good value for money?
We think that even though Bucked Up’s RUT Testosterone Booster is a fairly natural supplement and we love its simple capsule formula, there are better options out there.
If it contained lower levels of Zinc, contains Magnesium and K2 in addition to D3 and I3C instead of DIM, then RUT would have a big thumbs up from us.
Since it doesn’t, it’s unfortunately a thumb’s down.
Our Conclusion
Our RUT Testosterone Booster Review has now come to an end.
There are decent ingredients in serious doses and the company behind it has a solid reputation. Instead of investing your hard-earned cash in RUT, we would recommend using a different test booster instead. Centrapeak is our current top rated alternative.
As always, remember that test boosters should only be used by adult males without chronic conditions.
