Cancer takes the life of Iranian bodybuilding star Isaac Qavidel.
Iranian bodybuilding star, Isaac Qavidel, has passed away at the very young age of 35.
Isaac leaves behind a six year old daughter and his wife.
Isaac was a very popular bodybuilder in Iran and as well in Canada, where he moved to in 2018, with a dream to continue his bodybuilding career.
Isaac won a Silver Medal in Thailand at the World Bodybuilding Championships in 2012 and a Silver Medal Brazil at the World Championships in 2014. In 2016, he finally won the Gold medal at the World Championship in Kuwait.
Earning his pro card in 2016, Isaac would compete at the 2018 Toronto Pro Show. He managed to place tenth in a lineup of some of the best bodybuilders in the world.
Unfortunately, the Toronto Pro show would be Isaac’s first and last pro show of his career.
Cancer turns Issac’s life upside down
Six months prior to their arrival to Canada in 2018, Issac started developing severe headaches. He sought out medical help in Iran and specialists ordered brain MRI’s, which came back as normal.
Three different specialists in Iran confirmed that his issue was simply migraine attacks. They prescribed a basic headache medication and sent him away.
Shortly after their arrival in Canada, Issac started having unbearable headaches. On November 24 2018, he woke up with an excruciating headache, so painful that he couldn’t even see properly. Isaac was rushed to the North York General Hospital and found out through a CT scan that there was something unusual happening with his brain.
At this moment, Issac’s life would flip upside down. He was immediately transferred to St. Michael’s Hospital in Downtown Toronto where he was informed that he has an abscess in his brain, which needed to be removed immediately.
the doctors immediately operated on his brain on November 25, 2018. During the operation, the doctors found out that the problem in his brain is actually not an abscess or infection, but a tumor.
Everyone was shocked when the biopsy later confirmed that it was Advanced Stage Sarcoma Bone Cancer, that started from his skull. According to the neurosurgeon, the tumor in his brain got spread to the major vein, which takes the blood and oxygen to the brain. Later on, the oncologist found close to a dozen lesions on both his right and left hipbones which robbed him of his ability to walk on his own.
Isaac was restricted to a wheelchair as there was a high risk of a hipbone fracture if he walks. The cancer also spread to his pancreas and as well to his liver.
Unfortunately, while living in Iran, Isaac would visit the doctor frequentlyor standard medical check-ups as part of his profession, and not once was there any indication that he had a tumor or any other related problems.
Iranian bodybuilding star, Hadi Choopan was one of the first to send his message of condolences.
