Covid-19 Chris Pillay

Covid-19 claims the life of South African bodybuilder Chris Pillay.

It seems the Covid-19 nightmare will not end with the disease taking the life of another loved athlete, this time South African bodybuilder and trainer Chris Pillay.

Chris Pillay had just celebrated his 50th birthday with family and friends.

Just browsing through Chris’ Facebook page is proof of how much he was loved by the bodybuilding and fitness community. Messages of condolences are constantly being published.

Chris represented South Africa at IFBB international competitions, such as the IFBB Amateur World championships on a number of occasions.

After he ended his competitive bodybuilding career, Chris went on to continue contributing to the sport as a personal trainer and as well was part owner of Body Guru Gym in Umhlang, South Africa.

Labeled as the greatest bodybuilder ever to come out of South Africa, Chris battled Covid-19 for two weeks before he passed away.

According to his friend and business partner, Abhir Dayaram, Chris had a fever and also contracted a chest infection, that led to his death.

Chris was one of the best bodybuilders in the country. Chris was a thriving competitive athlete representing South Africa at the IFBB World Championships on numerous occasions. He also represented the country twice at the WPF Universe championships and was placed in the top 15, the top 10 and the top six at the IFBB World championships over the years.

Chris also was part of the IFBB South African team, helping athletes locally and traveling abroad as part of the South African delegation, representing his home country at IFBB International competitions.

Evolutionofbodybuilding.net contacted IFBB South Africa President, Wayne Price. Wayne said it has been a difficult year since the Covid-19 pandemic started with many friends and athletes passing away . Wayne went on to explain that Chris will be missed as he was an integral part of the South African team.

Evolutionofbodybuilding.net sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Chris Pillay during this difficult time.
