Elm & Rye Testosterone Support Review
You are looking for a testosterone booster and you’ve come across Elm & Rye Testosterone Support. Now you want to know if it’s any good. If those two statements sound about right then you are on the right page! Read on …
We will discuss if this particular supplement is as effective as it claims and does it offer value for money and real results? So let’s dive right into it!
The main claim behind this custom blended testosterone booster is simple. “6 core ingredients designed to help boost healthy testosterone levels’, says the Elm & Rye website.
Which is refreshing at, this brand is not pushing unrealistic expectations onto its customers – there ar eno wild claims in bold caps about how it’ll boost your T levels by 42% or anoything like that.
Pros & Cons
Jumping right into the advantages and disadvantages, we can see that, well, there aren’t many!
That’s because the company website seems to be missing crucial information. Most companies behind testosterone boosters usually rave about their effectiveness. But not this time. We are a little confused why this would be, but in the spirit of team work as we are always happy to help.
Let us step in and demystify things for you.
Pros
- Simple 6 ingredient formula
- Some ingredients may work
- Free shipping
Cons
- The (crucial) quantity of each ingredient is missing
- Only 30 tablets (tablets?? – not even called capsules on their site)
- It’s very expensive
- Limited availability – only available through brand website
From a cursory look the Cons certainly outweight the Pros. Let’s get under the hood and take a look at the company behind this product.
Who makes Elm & Rye Testosterone Support?
We did some digging, but couldn’t find much info about Elm & Rye. That is normally a bad sign.
We know that they are US based and have quite a mission statement on their website:
‘Our mission is to improve the lives of humanity by making high-quality supplements accessible and convenient.’
Impressive but come on – changing humanity? You’re a small supplements company guys. Let’s move onto their values.
They say they are “sustainable, empowering, pure & high quality ( with no extra additives, no fillers, no BS’)”. Again we like this language, but how do these translate into the actual product?
The company claims that their customer’s health is their top priority and that they value transparency but with the limited information we can’t say we agree with the latter.
The lack of data about the formula in this testosterone booster (or the company itself) doesn’t scream transparency and it really should.
What are the benefits?
As we said earlier, Elm & Rye insist that their supplement ‘boosts healthy testosterones levels’.
Healthy testosterone levels are responsible for the body’s energy levels, as well as fat distribution, and optimal muscle growth. In men, in particular, testosterone plays a huge role in sex drive and sperm production. (1).
And as for low testosterone levels, well, that can have many unpleasant consequences including (2):
- Erectile dysfunction
- Depression
- Loss of libido
- Reduced muscle mass
For this reason, keeping your testosterone levels in the normal range is vital but can Elm & Rye Testosterone Support live up to its claims?
In order to answer this question, we should take a closer look at the ingredient list of the product.
Elm & Rye Testosterone Support’s Ingredients
There are only 6 main ingredients in this products but unfortunately we are limited with information as we don’t know the quantities. It might as well be a proprietary blend. If they don’t tell you what the dosages are we cannot determine safety or efficacy.
Let’s explore each ingredient one by one.
Tribulus Terrestris Powder (Tribulus Terrestris)
This plant that has been used for centuries for its alleged testosterone boosting properties.
Many supplement brands have picked up on this and use the plant but curiously the claims have not been backed up by the science.
Contrary to popular belief, Tribulus Terrestris does not boost testosterone levels in humans (3), but it does seem to work on animals (4).
Chrysin 99%
Even though the compound has been previously found to increase testosterone, a recent study has found it to be ineffective (5).
Why? Well it gets broken down in the small intestines, so large quantities would need to be ingested to have any effect.
The trouble in this case is we do not know how much chrysin is in the product so we cannot say if it’s going to work. The other problem? In the studies showing chrysin was effective at boosting test levels it was injected directly into the testicle. Cringe.
Diindolylmethane (DIM)
Diindolylmethane or DIM is a compound made by the body after ingesting cruciferous (you know the really hearty healthy) vegetables (like cauliflower, cabbage, kale and those green leaf vegetables).
It is thought to balance the hormone estrogen, reduce cancer risk and protect against prostate problems – now that’s a powerful compound (6).
DIM has been shown to reduce sperm quality, but that said because it only affected rats that were given massive doses of DIM (7), we can safely say it doesn’t apply here as Elm & Rye only has one tablet a day.
What we can say, however, is that I-3-C would be a better alternative for improving fertility. As a reference, we can tell you that Centrapeak contains 200mg of I-3-C which is a precursor to DIM. The average US male weighs around 90Kg meaning it is 2.2mg per kilo. I-3-C has actually been proven to improve fertility in obese rats (7.5)
Long Jack Eurycoma Root (Eurycoma Longifolia)
Another plant, used traditionally in Asian medicine, it improves testosterone and also sperm count and sperm mobility. There is also evidence it helps improve erectile dysfunction (8) and (9). Could be a good inclusion if we only knew how much Long Jack was in it.
Gamma Oryzanol Powder
Gamma Oryzanol is a substance made out of rice bran and interestingly, it has demonstrated an ability to to improve testosterone and strength following a weight lifting session (10).
Additionally, we also found that it improves the human growth hormone (11).
Calcium (as Calcium Carbonate)
Calcium has been shown to improve testosterone levels in both active and sedentary athletes in one study (12). However the results were not as impressive as some make out. It failed to significantly influence testosterone (there was no difference between the active group given calcium relative to the active control group), and the test levels in the sedentary group were not dissimilar to the baseline.
Capsule
As for the capsule itself, it contains Silicon Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate and Dib. So it’s not a ‘tablet’ at all, as described on there rather sloppy website.
Is anything missing?
There are only 6 ingredients in Elm & Rye Testosterone Support, they are not superstar test boosting ingredients and we’ve no idea what dosages are included.
So yes, there’s a lot missing. Some of the other well studied compounds that increase testosterone levels are:
- Ashwagandha – taking this traditional Ayurvedic herb can greatly increase testosterone in male subjects (13).
- Zinc – the male hormone levels increase when taking this mineral for 4 weeks (14).
- Vitamin D – apparently, many of us in the western world are now deficient in this essential vitamin. So why not add it in, if only for a good measure? (15)
What’s the dosage?
Elm & Rye recommend taking 1 tablet of Testosterone Support a day. Except it’s a capsule, not a tablet.
An 1 a day sounds convenient until you realise that there’s only so much you can fit into a single capsule, even if it’s a 00 size. Meaning that there’s just not much in this product, you are not getting a lot for your money.
Are there any side-effects to Elm & Rye Testosterone Support?
As with any dietary supplement, this product could potentially cause side effects.
That being said, we don’t know how much of each ingredient Elm & Rye so, unless it has high levels of zinc, it shouldn’t cause problems.
How much does it cost?
The product costs a massive $84.99 for a 1 month supply.
If you wanted to ‘subscribe & save’ it would cost you $68.84 and shipping is free.
‘Subscribe & save’ in this case just means that the company will send you the product regularly with no obligation to keep going and ability to cancel at any time.
But can it be brought elsewhere where it maybe a little cheaper?
We took to Amazon, eBay as well as other popular marketplaces, but we could not find it anywhere else.
Is Elm & Rye Support good value for money?
No.
Go over the ingredients list above and think about whether they can be of help for your particular needs.
Is Elm & Rye Support Review Conclusions
The formula is light on ingredients – and it has to be as there is only 1 capsule a day dosage, you are only getting 30 caps for your money.
The price is very high and the dosages unknown. You can do better.
