“Fans harassment on social media making the sport brutal” – Brandon Curry.
2019 Mr. Olympia, Brandon Curry, is one of the most popular bodybuilders in the world, but he admits that the fans of the sport can really “sting”, according to a recent interview.
Brandon Curry spoke exclusively to the The US Sun, revealing how difficult bodybuilding fans can be on social media.
Brandon Curry revealed to The US Sun, that no matter how much criticism he gets from the negative fans, he will continue to push ahead.
Being one of the veterans of the sport, Brandon Curry says that back in the day, the bodybuilders used to only answer to the judges. Fast forward to 2023, all the fans have instant access, thanks to social media.
“Used to be you only had to handle the scrutiny of the judges and you only hear from fans in fan mail,” he told The U.S. Sun.
“Most of the fans that don’t care for you won’t spend the money for the stamp to write you.
“But now with social media everybody has access to you all the time.”
With years of experience, Brandon has learned to block out all the negativity, and focus on his goal of winning the Mr. Olympia title for the second time.
Brandon also confirmed that he still has some gas in the tank, to continue at the highest level.
“I know I’m coming close to the time to hang it up,” he said.
“I probably don’t want to be competing past 45, but right now my body is still responding. I was able to come to this here stage bigger and better than I ever was.
“It’s just a matter of me being hungry enough to continue to pursue it.
“Right now, I still am. I’m still challenging myself. I’m still having fun,” Brandon explained to The US Sun.
We can expect to see Brandon challenge for the Mr. Olympia title again this season, going head to head with defending champion, Hadi Choopan.
