Featured Athlete: 2023 Mr. USA Joseph “The Machine” Palacios.

Evolutionofbodybuilding.net is honored to feature Joseph Palacios aka Jo “The Machine” Palacios, just a week after winning the 2023 Mr. USA Overall title and earning his pro card within the IFBB Professional League.

Born on 1 February 1994, at the age of 29, Joseph started bodybuilding when he was playing football in high school.

Joseph’s love for bodybuilding increased, and the moment he ended his football career, he dedicated all his time to training and building his physique.

The goal for Joseph was to get as big and shredded as possible, getting inspiration from bodybuilding legends such as Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler, and Dorian Yates.

Joseph started his amateur bodybuilding career in 2020 at the NPC Iron Games. Placing second in both the Novice and Middleweight divisions, was a sign that Joseph had what it takes to be a successful bodybuilder.

After a two-year break, Joseph would try his luck at the 2022 NPC California State Championships. Joseph would go on and win the overall bodybuilding title.

Finally, in 2023, Joseph believed he could win a major amateur title, and he did by winning the 2023 NPC USA Championships.

After winning such a prestigious title, many expected Joseph would compete as a professional immediately, but Joseph confirmed to Evolutionofbodybuilding.net that he will focus on improving for the 2024 season, and try to earn his Mr. Olympia qualification. During his off-season, Joseph hopes to get sponsored by one of the leading supplement companies.

Diet and Training

When prepping for a contest, Joseph likes to stick to the basic bodybuilding diet. The USA champion’s diet consists of beef, chicken, lots of rice, cream of rice, iso protein, peanut butter, whole eggs, oatmeal, and egg whites.

Joseph likes to train the old-school way, training one body part a day, five times a week, with two rest days.

The typical training schedule for Joseph would be:

Monday – Chest
Tuesday – Back
Wednesday – Rest
Thursday – Shoulders
Friday – Legs
Saturday – Arms
Sunday – Rest

Hobbies and cheat Meals

On his time off, Joseph’s favorite hobby, Joseph loves going to different restaurants with his partner Julissa Barboza, especially on days when he can relax and have a cheat meal.

Joseph’s favorite cheat meal is an American breakfast, that consists of omelets, pancakes, waffles, French toast, and hash browns.

Evolutionofbodybuilding.net would like to thank Joseph Palacios for taking the time to speak to us and feature him on this website.
