Larry Scott, the first ever Mr. Olympia (1965 & ’66) died earlier today (March 8) in his adopted hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. Known as the Golden Boy of bodybuilding, he was 75 years old and had been in poor health in recent years due to the effects of Alzheimer’s. (Larry is the second Mr. Olympia to have passed: Sergio Oliva preceding him in 2012.)
Rich Gaspari – Incredibly saddened to hear about the loss of Bodybuilding Legend and our first ever Mr. Olympia, Larry Scott. He will be missed but always remembered for all the inspiration and motivation he provided the health and fitness industry.
Not only was he a great Bodybuilder, but a true gentleman that loved the sport and always spoke with great enthusiasm. He was a motivating factor for me because of his genetic limitations yet was still able to become one of the best bodybuilders in the sport. Rest in peace Larry and thank you for everything you did for the sport of Bodybuilding…
