Former bodybuilding champion Luis Manuel Lomeli killed in drive-by shooting.
Former bodybuilding champion Luis Manuel Lomeli was killed on Thursday night. Charro Lomeli was driving his Dodge Ram truck in the San Jeronimo neighborhood in Leon, Guanajuato on Juan Alonso de Torres Boulevard when he was shot by two gunmen.
According to reports, Luis was shot by two men driving another vehicle.
Lomeli was allegedly on his way to the gym during the time of the attack, after having dinner at the Rincón Gaucho Plaza Mayor in León, a vehicle approached him, from where they shot and murdered him.
He attempted to put the car in reverse and caused a collision with another vehicle. The investigation is still ongoing as authorities are gathering evidence from CCTV cameras.
This was the second time this calendar year that Lomeli was attacked. According to La Silla Rota Guanajuato, Lomeli was the victim of another armed attack about five months ago. Luis was lucky to escape injury when he was grazed by the bullet.
Charro Lomeli was not competing anymore, but was working as a trainer helping other prepare for competition.

Four bodybuilders were killed in just over a year
Four bodybuilders have been killed since September 2022. all four bodybuilders have been murdered in Leon, Guanajuato.
Luis Manuel Lomeli was the latest victim, being shot while he was on his way to the gym.
Omar de Jesus
On September 11, at 6 in the afternoon, another bodybuilder named Omar de Jesús , 23 years old, was the victim of a gunshot attack when he was driving his Mazda car, waiting to be served at a drive-through.
The bodybuilder was rushed to the hospital but died after being in a coma for four days, due to eight gunshot wounds.
The attack occurred when Omar arrived at the donut drive-through while he was waiting for his order of donuts and a coffee. Two armed men arrived and shot him and fled.
Alberto Melendez
Alberto Meléndez, who was known as Beto, was killed on May 13, when armed men entered his home in the Valle de Señora neighborhood in León, where he was celebrating a birthday party, and four armed individuals entered and started shooting.
Everybody at the party ran away, including Beto, but he eventually fell to the ground, meters away, and was found dead.
Juan Carlos Cuellar
The first of the four murdered was Juan Carlos Cuéllar, a 23-year-old bodybuilder, who was shot to death on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Juan was with one of his cousins when he tried to defend his sister during an assault in León. Both were shot, causing the death of Juan Carlos, but his cousin was only injured.
