Did Hadi Choopan’s deltoid controversy cost him the Mr. Olympia title?
Hadi Choopan’s deltoid controversy continued until the 2021 Olympia Weekend, possibly costing him the title.
Hadi Choopan is one of the best bodybuilders in the world. A consistent top five finisher at the Mr. Olympia and one of the most conditioned athletes on stage.
Leading up to the 2021 Mr. Olympia, Hadi was one of the potential favorites to defeat the reigning champion Big Ramy.
Hadi’s road to the 2021 Olympia Weekend was a complex one. Obtaining his Visa to travel to the USA, already made things difficult for the Iranian champion, but that was not the only difficult situation that Hadi had to face.
A number of bodybuilding media channels focused on the size of Hadi Choopan’s delts. Hadi even threatened to sue RX Muscle for their comments about his delts.
Some of the media alleged that Hadi injected his deltoids with synthol, while others believe he used other methods to make them bigger.
During the 2021 Mr. Olympia, Evolutionofbodybuilding.net was in contact with a number of prominent people at the Olympia Weekend. When the subject of Hadi Choopan came up, the majority believed that Hadi’s delts will cost him dearly, regardless of his condition.
In the latest episode of the Bob Cicherillo’s Voice of Bodybuilding Podcast, Bob basically revealed the ‘official’ reason why the judges allegedly denied Hadi Choopan victory at the 2021 Mr. Olympia.
Bob said in his podcast that if Hadi reduces the size of his delts, he has a great chance of winning the Mr. Olympia title.
Bob did not accuse Hadi of doing anything against the rules, but he did confirm that the judges did not like the appearance of Hadi’s delts.
At the time of publishing this article, Hadi’s coach, Hany Rambod, has been silent about the allegations.
Do you think Hadi Choopan’s delts have been tampered with?
