IFBB bans athletes and officials from Russia and Belarus.
The IFBB has published an official press release, confirming that they have decided to ban all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from all international events.
UPDATE (10 March, 2022) – This ban only applies to IFBB amateur athletes and officials in regards to the IFBB. This ban does not apply to IFBB Elite Pro athletes.
Due to the recent horrible events between Russia and Ukraine, the majority of sport governing bodies have decided to ban Russian and Belarusian athletes from all their events.
IFBB President Dr. Rafael Santonja and his Executive committee have taken the difficult decision to suspend one of their biggest affiliated federations from their numerous international events.
Before Russia invaded Ukraine, the Russian IFBB federation used to send hundreds of athletes every year to IFBB’s most prestigious events. The Russian athletes all take pride in representing their country at all events.
The suspension of Russia and Belarus will surely affect a number of IFBB’s events negatively.
Siberian Power Show
The Siberian Power Show is affiliated with the IFBB and the IFBB Elite Pro. This contest is scheduled to take place 2-3 April, 2022.
At the time of publishing this article, and after IFBB’s press release regarding Russian and Belarusian athletes, the contest is still going on as planned.
On the Siberian Power Show‘s official Instagram page, posts are still being published with updates for all the athletes and press.
The Siberian Power Show’s organizers, have published press releases regarding travel arrangements due to the closed airspace because of the war.
Just a few ours after IFBB published their press release, the Siberian Power Show’s organizers also published details in regards to press passes for the event.
With the suspension of all athletes from Russia and Belarus from all of IFBB’s events, the Siberian Power Show might not even take place.
