IFBB celebrate 75th Anniversary during the 2021 IFBB World Congress.
The 2021 IFBB World Congress was a very special occasion, marking the 75th Anniversary since Joe and Ben Weider created the IFBB in 1946.
Over 100 representatives arrived in Santa, Susanna, Barcelona to participate and represent their country at the Congress and celebrate this special occasion.
IFBB President Dr. Rafael Santonja and his Executive committee organize the IFBB International Congress every year, as it is a very important event on IFBB’s calendar. The two major congress’ are organized at the IFBB European and World Championships. The European Congress caters to European matters, while the International Congress takes care of all international events, new rules and other matters. It is very important to point out that every decision is voted for in a democratic manner.
The World Congress was originally organized by Ben Weider, celebrating the sport of bodybuilding and building the foundations that make the IFBB the biggest bodybuilding and fitness federation in the world.
At the 2006 IFBB World Congress, Ben Weider official stepped down from his post as President of the IFBB and recommended that Dr. Rafael Santonja be his successor.
After a unanimous vote by all the delegates, Dr. Rafael Santonja was voted as the new IFBB President, a position that he continues to hold till today.
IFBB Celebrating 75 years
The IFBB is one of the biggest sport federations in the world. Something that has started as a dream by the Weider brothers, turned into a very organized world sport organization.
The sport has changed over the years and the IFBB has been leading the way, creating more opportunities for athletes from all over the world.
The IFBB is not just bodybuilding, but it’s a federation that promotes health and fitness.
The IFBB World Congress is a very important part of the year. Decisions taken during this meeting will affect the sport for the years to come.
Every affiliated country is given a voice. Every decision is taken democratically, in front of every delegate. IFBB President Rafael Santonja is a very busy man, but he is fully informed of every detail and problem that arises.
The 2021 IFBB World Congress was an exciting affair with the celebration of 75 years since its creation.
The week does not end with the IFBB World Congress, but it will be organizing the 62 IFBB World Amateur Championships.
Over 1,500 athletes will be participating in this event, with a dream to win the one of the most prestigious titles in the history of the sport.
