Rafael Santonja success 2021

IFBB President Rafael Santonja looks forward to a year of success in 2021

2020 is soon behind us, and it has been an incredible year.

The entire world has been at a standstill because of the dreaded Covid-19 virus.

Every sport discipline has been shutdown for a period of time because of safety precautions, including bodybuilding and fitness.

With all the problems and restrictions, bodybuilding prevailed and the IFBB and IFBB Elite Pro continued to press ahead to help their athletes through this horrible time.

The IFBB would not be what it is today without the vision and courage of IFBB President De. Rafael Santonja and his executive committee.

Before his passing, Ben Weider suggested that the best man to replace him was his close colleague Dr. Rafael Santonja.

At the congress that followed in 2006, Dr. Rafael Santonja was elected unanimously to be the next IFBB President.

Since 2006, Dr. Santonja has traveled the world promoting the sport of bodybuilding and fitness continuing where Ben Weider left off.

In his latest message to all bodybuilding and fitness enthusiasts, Dr. Rafael Santonja thanked everybody that participated and helped on and off the stage during the difficult year that past.

During the 2020 season, a number of events had to be cancelled due to very strict restrictions in various countries, but the IFBB made sure the prestigious international events still took place.

Events such as the IFBB European Championships, World Championships, World Elite Pro Championships, Elite Pro Master World Championships, Junior World Championships and the Arnold Classic Europe all took place.

The athletes that worked so hard to prepare for the 2020 season still had a stage to shine on.

At the same time, Dr. Santonja is looking forward to a very busy 2021 season with hundreds of competition scheduled to take place.

Editors Note: I would like to thank Dr. Rafael Santonja for his courage and positive attitude to handle every difficult situation, especially in 2020.

During our numerous discussions about the sport, I am always amazed with the attitude Dr. Santonja has to look forward and work through every difficult situation.

Yes, it is true, a contest date and venue might be changed numerous times in the span of a week, but this is all for the good of the sport and best interests of the athletes concerned.

Ben Weider couldn’t have picked anybody better for the job of IFBB President and I am sure Dr. Santonja will continue to lead this magnificent federation for many more years. – Kevin Grech
