IFBB Pro League increases prize fund for Men’s Open Bodybuilding.
The IFBB Pro League has announced that it is increasing the prize fund for 21 Men’s Open Bodybuilding shows for the 2024 competition season.
IFBB Pro League Vice-President Tyler Manion has announced the news on NPCNewsonline.com.
Thanks to MIT45 and Uprising Extracts, $210,000 will be injected into the prize fund for 21 Men’s Open Bodybuilding events.
Tyler Manion explained that the minimum prize money for 21 Men’s Open Bodybuilding Pro shows will be raised by $10,000.
Manion continued to explain that the first-place award will be raised from $10,000 to $15,000, and the second-place from $4,000 to $9,000.
The bodybuilding world reacts to the news
Immediately after Tyler Manion announced the news, the majority of comments were positive, while a few were not impressed.
The prize fund increase was a breath of fresh air for the Open Men’s Bodybuilding competitors, giving them the incentive to compete regularly.
While some athletes complained that the prize fund was higher in the past, others also suggested the prize fund should be shared across all divisions.
A start of a business relationship with sponsors
The new corporate sponsorship with MIT45 and Uprising Extracts, could be the start of a new trend in professional bodybuilding and fitness.
This will be a big investment for Uprising Extracts, being a fairly new company, but they are leading by example, giving back to the sport of bodybuilding and fitness.
Discussions may be already taking place for companies to inject money into prize funds for the other divisions.
This will also be a breath of fresh air for the promoters of the events. The increase in prize money will ease the financial burden for the promoter.
In the past, supplement companies used to invest much more money into the sport, and the media outlets that cover the sport of bodybuilding and fitness. Unfortunately in the past 10 years, this has declined.
Hopefully, this is a step in the right direction for more prize money being injected into the sport, across all mediums.
