Featured Athlete: IFBB Pro Ryan John-Baptiste.
Ryan John Baptiste is an IFBB Professional Bodybuilder, personal trainer and a respected athlete in the industry. He is one of the longest standing UK Scitec Nutrition athletes, working with them in the gym supporting his training and on stage when he is competing.
“I have been working with Scitec Nutrition for a couple of years, they are a great protein brand, not only are the products the best on the market but the support they have given me over the years has been amazing. It’s an honour to be part of such a great team.” -Ryan John-Baptiste
After always having a keen interest in fitness and bodybuilding, Ryan decided back in 2009 that he was going to challenge himself to get into Muscle and Fitness Magazine by taking part in a challenge they were running. The prize was a feature in the magazine and his bodybuilding career began.
Ryan’s career in UKBFF started in 2013, when the Men’s Physique division was in its infancy as a gateway to become an IFBB Pro. He came 3rd in his first competition and qualified for the British finals, where he went onto win. One of his biggest achievements was competing in Mr Olympia finals in 2016 where he came a strong 11th at his first attempt.
He has been a personal trainer for nearly 15 years, based in London Ryan has put all he has learnt from competing in bodybuilding into how he trains his clients. When it comes to training, competing and nutrition, Ryan likes to set goals, for himself and his clients.
“Ryan embodies everything we look for in an athlete. A great personality and a fantastic knowledge of all things nutrition and training. His focus to improve and continuing pushing himself sits perfectly with what we strive to do as a brand. “
Look at your training as a lifestyle
You want to make fitness part of your life, if you’re just starting out, don’t rush to push yourself hard straight away. Start gradually, making sure you’re enjoying the process, allow it to become a part of your everyday life, rather than just something you have to do. To be able to do well you need to enjoy training.
Don’t let the small things hold you back
When training there will be times where you feel like you’re not getting anywhere, you don’t feel like you’re getting any stronger or moving forward with your training or you stop losing weight and building muscle. This is natural, your body can stop responding sometimes, the best thing you can do is change up your workouts and what you eat and drink. Keep your body guessing, challenge yourself with new or harder workouts, don’t stop pushing yourself.
Have a goal
Throughout your training make sure you have a goal, when you start make sure its achievable, can be something small to get you started. Short term goals something to complete in 4 weeks, or less will help you keep going. You don’t have to have one big goal, try smaller goals ones that you can tick off to help you keep moving forward.
