Is Rubiel Mosquera the next Ronnie Coleman?

Rubiel Mosquera, better known as “Neckzilla”, is the hottest athlete at the moment within the Pro League.

Rubiel recently won his pro card at the EVLS Prague event a few weeks ago, and on the same weekend, he competed at the EVLS Prague Pro, and placed third on his pro debut, behind Michal Krizo and winner Samson Dauda.

Immediately after his victory, several bodybuilding pundits, including his coach and mentor, Chris Cormier, hailed him as the next Ronnie Coleman.

Rubiel started his career with the IFBB as an amateur, turned pro, and competed within the IFBB Elite Pro league.

Competing at various events with the IFBB Elite Pro, Rubiel was still finding his way, as a pro bodybuilder.

It was not an easy task for Rubiel, as he had to compete against IFBB Elite Pro’s top stars, such as, Michal Krizio, Mika Sihvonen, Ilya Lukovets, and many more.

During his competitive days with the IFBB Elite Pro, Rubiel was a consistent top-five finisher.

Rubiel Mosquera signed his new contract with Yava Labs and renewed his sponsorship with IFBB’s official magazine Muscle and Health, with IFBB President Dr. Rafael Santonja in June 2022.

Not long after signing his contract with IFBB President Dr. Rafael Santonja, Rubiel decided to switch over to the NPC, and start his new adventure with the Pro League.

It was a matter of time before Rubiel left the IFBB and IFBB Elite Pro, as Yava Labs also signed bodybuilding legend Chris Cormier and former Breon Ansley.

Rubiel went on tour with Cormier and Breon, and it would not be long before Rubiel announced he would be competing at the 2023 EVLS Prague Pro qualifier. Rubiel had no problem winning his pro card, and went on to compete at the 2024 Olympia qualifier the next day.

Rubiel was the star of the weekend, placing third behind Michal Krizo, and winner Samson Dauda.

After his victory, bodybuilding legend Chris Cormier immediately labeled Rubiel as the next Ronnie Coleman.

Immediately after his successful weekend, Chris Cormier has been praising his new protege.

On every podcast that Chris Cormier is a guest on, he has been praising Rubiel, insisting that he is the next big bodybuilding star, that will dominate the sport. Chris has even said that Rubiel is the next Ronnie Coleman.

Rubiel is a fantastic athlete and has incredible genetics, but comparing him to Ronnie Coleman might be a bit premature.

While Chris is praising his athlete, many top pros are more realistic and believe Rubiel will need a number of years before he can compete against the top bodybuilders in the Pro League.

Rubiel has an impressive physique, but at the moment, he does not have an aesthetic physique, that is balanced like the majority of his competitors.

There is not one bodybuilder in the entire world, that can match Rubiel’s leg development. While Rubiel has tree trunk size legs, and huge calves, he still needs time to get more definition.

To a certain point, saying Rubiel is the next Ronnie Coleman, might put unwanted pressure on the young bodybuilding star.

When Rubiel is alone, he looks incredibly impressive, but when compared to the great Ronnie Coleman, it is evident what he needs to improve on.

Rubiel needs to have more condition, if he wants to crack the top five at the Mr. Olympia, if he qualifies.

More balance is needed between his upper and lower body. Rubiel needs to add more size to his upper body, to match the massive leg development that he already has.

The side chest post is very impressive when Rubiel hits that pose, he can go up against any bodybuilder on the pro circuit.

When Rubiel turns around to perform the back double biceps and lat spread, when compared to Ronnie Coleman, he still has to add more size and thickness.

The most muscular is another pose that’s impressive when Rubiel performs it, but when standing next to Ronnie Coleman, or even Michal Krizo, he still has a lot of room for improvement.

Rubiel is still very young, and he has more than enough time to sculpt his physique into a world-class physique, capable of winning the Arnold Classic, or even the Mr. Olympia.

Saying he is the next Ronnie Coleman is premature, and this is unwanted pressure for the young bodybuilding star.

In just a few years, Rubiel established himself as an IFBB Elite Pro, and now he starts his new adventure with the IFBB Pro League.

Rubiel placed an impressive third place at the 2023 EVLS Prague Pro, against several top bodybuilders, but we still have to see how he compares to Samson Dauda, Nick Walker, Regan Grimes, Hadi Choopan, Andrew Jacked, Mr. Olympia Derek Lunsford, and others.

Rubiel has a great team around him, including bodybuilding legend Chris Cormier, who is predicting Rubiel will soon be the best bodybuilder, and eventually dominate the sport. Rubiel just has to take it day by day, and keep his feet firmly on the ground.
