NPC/Pro League President and Vice-President, Jim and Tyler Manion refuse to publicly respond to the allegations of sexual exploitation within the NPC and Pro League.
Evolutionofbodybuilding.net has managed to get a copy of a letter sent to all NPC and Pro League promoters a day after an article titled “Built & Broken – Female bodybuilders describe widespread sexual exploitation“, was published in the Washington Post.
Jim and Tyler Manion prefer to refrain from responding to the article publicly, but at the same time have asked all their promoters to “give the letter to anybody that asks for it.”
The Manion’s are referring to the article as a “tabloid reporting based solely on unsubstantiated tales from unreliable sources.”
Referring to an article in the Washington Post as “tabloid” is not very professional, considering that the Washington Post has some of the best investigative journalists in the world and has investigated and published some of the biggest stories to ever hit the newsstands.
What the Manion’s are not realizing is that the Washington Post cannot be compared to sites such as Evolutionofbodybuilding.net, Generation Iron, Muscular Development or any other bodybuilding media. The Washington Post most probably has a budget that all the bodybuilding media put together cannot match, and the resources to obtain any evidence that is required.
When reading the article that was published on 25 October 2022, all the statements that were made in regards to the allegations against J.M. Manion all had proven facts.
The Washington Post managed to uncover websites that had been deleted years ago by J.M. Manion amongst other evidence.
In their letter to all their promoters, the Manion’s believe that the people behind this article have a vendetta against them. “The people who are funneling information directly to this reporter have a clear vendetta against the NPC and IFBB Pro League because they are no longer part of them. Their continued efforts to damage the hard work and commitment you all bring to our industry underscores why they are no longer involved.”
Panic behind the scenes
Contrary to what the letter indicates, the Manion’s are trying to send a message that they are calm and everything will run to schedule, in regards to bodybuilding and fitness events.
But nothing could be further from the truth, as in the last few days, the Manion’s have been called out by the National Organization for Women (NOW) to pressure the U.S. government to intervene.
NOW demands that the justice system open an investigation of its own into this culture, bring wrongdoers to court, and make them pay.

To add more pressure to the Manion’s, legendary promoter Brent Jones resigned from the National Physique Committee (NPC) two weeks ago following word that a major story was going to be published in the Washington Post.

To handle the situation, the Manion’s hired Hammond Strategies, which The Washington Post describes as “a crisis communications firm,” to speak for them and try to handle the situation they are in.
If the Manion’s had nothing to worry about and claim to be 100% innocent, why do they need a “crisis communications firm” to help them?
Jim and Tyler Manion distancing themselves from J.M. Manion?
In the same letter sent to all NPC and Pro League promoters, Jim Manion’s son, J.M. Manion is not mentioned in the letter. They refer to allegations against the NPC and Pro League, and allegedly not J.M. Manion.
In the article published by the Washington Post, J.M. Manion was mentioned numerous times in connection to the alleged accusations, but no mention of him in the letter by the NPC.
One would believe that his father, Jim Manion, would somehow insist that his son is innocent of all allegations.

We just wanted to touch base regarding the ridiculous Washington Post article that was released yesterday. This is our official statement in response to the article and you can feel free to give it to anyone that asks you about it:
“We are not interested in responding to tabloid reporting based solely on unsubstantiated tales from unreliable sources with a clear animus against our organizations as opposed to the truth.”
We also know they will be coming out with more articles that will try to slander our organization and industry.
