The show has been replaced by a different show on the same day. A number of episodes forced the promoters ( Moe Elmoussawi and his brother) to change the name of the competition and totally remove the name Weider from their social media and posters.

We were contacted by IFBB Pro League representative and promoter, Moe Elmoussawi and as we do with any story, we allow a right of reply.

Below is the explanation from Moe Elmoussawi himself about the circumstances leading up to the cancellation of the 2019 Olympia Amateur Olympia.

Hassanein Mokalad, is the person who took over IFBB Presidency in Lebanon in 2013 from the man who established it in 1956, Malih Alywan.

According to Moe Elmoussawi, Hassanin tried to stop him (Moe Elmoussawi) in every and each way to run any events in Lebanon and after when Moe Elmoussawi  was given permission from the ministry of sports to run the Amateur Mr Olympia in Lebanon he waged war on him (Moe Elmoussawi ).

Hassanin claimed in the letters attached above that Joe Weider is a Zionist who supported and helped the government of Israel all his life with money and other means.

As it a known fact that Lebanon and Israel has been at war for more than 30 years now, the Lebanese government just like the Israel government have major restrictions against each other.

The claims and the accusations of the IFBB President in Lebanon convinced the minister of sports to revoke the permission from doing the show.

Now and since many athletes were getting ready to do the show and have purchased airline tickets and booked hotels I as an athlete understand the suffering of athletes decided to pursue a pro qualifier and a 212 pro show.

The poster that was published was a temporary one until the new permit arrives, then it will be updated.

It’s completely disgusting and hypocritical that the IFBB have someone like this individual in Lebanon representing the organization that was founded by the Weider brothers and they continue to work with him regardless of the total daily disrespect to the sport and the athletes in Lebanon.

As mentioned above, these statements are of Moe Elmoussawi himself, the promoter of the Olympia Amateur Lebanon and now the Lebanon Pro/Am. that is to take place on 20 April, 2019.

As mentioned in the original article we also sent Dan Solomon, Chief Olympia Officer at American Media some questions on February 9, 2019 about this situation and until publishing of this article, he has not responded.

A letter sent to Moe Elmoussawi related to the cancellation of the Olympia Amateur Lebanon below:

Translation: The ministry canceled the approval for two reasons. The letter continues saying after re-considering the Olympia contest and the way it was marketed, and according to the Lebanese law (which does not give any other federation the right to organize a contest). We cant approve it as well the name Joe Weider is a person associated to with Zionist* therefore we have canceled our approval.

*Zionism (Hebrew: צִיּוֹנוּת‬ Tsiyyonut [t͡sijo̞ˈnut] after Zion) is the national movement of the Jewish people that supports the re-establishment of a Jewish homeland in the territory defined as the historic Land of Israel (roughly corresponding to Canaan, the Holy Land, or the region of Palestine).

Other letters that basically explain the relation between the LFBB (IFBB Lebanon) and the IFBB Pro League. The LFBB continue to say that they only recognize one federation, which is the IFBB. As well a brief history of the IFBB Pro League.

An important part in the first letter below is the film ‘Bigger’ is mentioned. Basically the film ‘Bigger’ made many people and government officials think that the Weider’s are Zionist. This is basically where all the problems started and the request to remove anything related to Weider on posters and social media to be removed.
