New bodybuilding organization takes the UK by storm.
The UK has always been one of the top countries to organize bodybuilding events. The British Physique Alliance is a new organization that has already become very popular.
The BPA (British Physique Alliance), was launched at the beginning of January 2023.
The BPA Executive Committee is made up of a number of former UKBFF committee members, judges and competitors.
Dr. Dennis “Sugar” Christopher is heading this organization as President, and he’s brought in a number of experienced individuals to work by his side.
A number of events have already been scheduled for the 2023 contest season. Eight events are already being advertised on the BPA’s social media.
The first event is scheduled for 30 April, 2023, while the final event is scheduled for 12 November, 2023.
The UKBFF or BPA – Who will organize the English Grand Prix?
One of the main events that the BPA is advertising is the 2023 English Grand Prix. The English Grand Prix is an amateur event, not to be confused with the former British Grand Prix, that was organized by Wayne DeMilia.
Originally, the English Grand Prix was organized by the UKBFF, the IFBB’s only affiliate in the UK.
The English Grand Prix is known to be a great stepping stone for amateur athletes to qualify for IFBB’s international events.
Legendary bodybuilders such as 6X Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates, the late Luke Sandoe and 6X 212 Olympia winner Flex Lewis, Zack Khan, Nathan De Asha, and many others have kick-started their careers through the UKBFF.
IFBB Executive member, Bill Tierney, is the President of the UKBFF, and he has recently been very vocal about the new organization that has been created.
In a press release published by the UKBFF, Bill Tierney is alleging that some of the new committee members of the BPA, have allegedly worked behind his back to take over some of the UKBFF’s events.
UKBFF President Bill Tierney, also confirms that he himself asked the same individuals to take care of all the UKBFF’s events in 2021 and 2022. Bill believes that there is allegedly a “Power Struggle”, which was one of the reasons a new organization was created.
At the time of publishing this article, the BPA is promoting the English Grand Prix on their social media and official website. The official date for the 2023 English Grand Prix is scheduled for 3 September, 2023.
While the UKBFF is claiming that the English Grand Prix is their event, at the time of publishing this article, the event is still not scheduled on the official calendar of the IFBB.
Who is affiliated to the IFBB?
The UKBFF is the only federation in the UK affiliated to the IFBB. Being affiliated to the IFBB, means that the events in the UK give access to international events organized by the IFBB.
Athletes competing with the UKBFF have the opportunity to qualify for the IFBB European and World Championships, The Arnold Sports Festival Europe, and many more international events.
At the time of publishing this article, the BPA is not affiliated with any major federation, such as the IFBB, NPC, or PCA.
Sources close to Evolutionofbodybuilding.net allege that there is a big chance that the BPA will work towards aligning themselves with the IFBB.
As it looks, there will definitely be a power struggle in the UK. Not only between the UKBFF and the BPA, but they also have to deal with the NPC’s affiliate, 2BrosPro.
