power struggle

The power struggle between the IFBB International and the IFBB pro League/NPC has been going on since the split has been made official.

The IFBB have their new IFBB Elite Pro League and the IFBB Professional League has stayed the same, just now they will not recognize the new IFBB Elite Pro’s as professional athletes.

The IFBB Pro League/NPC have been much more vocal about this split compared to the IFBB International lead by IFBB President Dr. Rafael Santonja.

Earlier this week, Santonja talked about the situation for the first time since the 2017 Olympia weekend.

Evolutionofbodybuilding.net have been following the events of this split very closely and we have noticed a lack of respect not only towards the IFBB, but as well Arnold Schwarzenegger himself from people high up the ladder with the IFBB Pro League.

Until now, Arnold Schwarzenegger has not spoke about this split between the biggest federations in the sport, and he probably will not.

Arnold is very close to Dr. Rafael Santonja as he shares the same dream as him and his predecessor, Ben Weider, in seeing bodybuilding as an Olympic sport.

This dream is getting closer with a number of Olympic committee’s recognizing bodybuilding as an Olympic sport.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has talked about this many times in his opening speeches at the Arnold Classic Europe and he has always expressed his love for the European version of the show that takes place in Spain.

In recent comments by the so-called IFBB Pro League Rep. Bob Cicherillo, it shows that they will do whatever it takes to win over athletes to the NPC, even if it means disrespecting the man that put bodybuilding on the map.

Bob replied to a comment on the Muscular Development forum stating that Jim Manion should be worried due to the fact that Arnold has not said anything yet on the split.

Bob said: “We (IFBB PL) are moving on…with, or without Arnold. What’s more concerning is the fact that he’s been brought up to speed as to what REALLY goes on, and has been for many years. If he didn’t know before, he does now. If that doesn’t lead him to making the right decision…then he’s a part of the problem, not the solution”

Implying that Arnold could be ‘part of the problem, not the solution’ truly shows a great lack of respect from the IFBB Pro League Rep.

For a person to call himself a Rep for the IFBB Pro League, he should be working on educating the athletes, not disrespecting the greatest bodybuilder ever and a person who has done so much for the sport.

Bob is not only the IFBB Pro League Rep, but he is as well organizing the four new NPC shows in the UK in 2018. He did not waste no time breaking this news as it was just hours after the split between the associations was made know to the public.

Bob’s love for the sport his so deep, he is willing to go to a foreign country and not produce one show, but four, for the foreign athletes he has been looking down to for a number of years. Now, the level of bodybuilding in Europe is good enough for his league…. In fact they are so good, you can now win one small NPC show and become an IFBB Professional.

Gone are the times when an athlete would win the prestigious IFBB World Championships and earn that precious IFBB Pro card. It was the fruit of years of hard work.

Now, ‘You win… and your in” as Bob would say it. The IFBB Pro card has become worthless.

The World Championships are still a world-class contest and pro cards will be given, but now they will be IFBB Elite Pro cards. IFBB Elite Pro athletes have already started earning cash prizes, contrary to what is being said.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has come up through a number of associations and always respects bodybuilding as a sport and as a way of fitness, regardless.

The 7X Mr. Olympia winner has been very vocal about the state of certain bodybuilders that step on the Olympia stage, especially when it comes to posing and their condition.

Some modern day bodybuilders just brushed his comments aside as others have seen this as a step in the right direction to bring the sport back to the way it was in the late 80’s and 90’s, in regards the condition of the athletes.
