NPC Worldwide 2022 Regional Certificate Requirements
The NPC Worldwide has released their new rules for the Regional Certificate Requirements as of 1 January, 2022.
The new rules will affect all NPC Worldwide affiliated organizations all over the world.
As from 1 January, 2022, Regional Certificate’s will only be valid for the same calendar year. This means that if an amateur athlete obtains a Regional Certificate in 2022, they have a chance to compete at a Pro Qualifier until 31 December, 2022. This rule will also be implemented each year thereafter.
If the athlete does not earn his or her Pro Card, they must again compete at a Regional Contest, before they can compete at a Pro Qualifier.
Athletes not happy with new rules
Some athletes vented their frustration on various social media channels, in regards to the new rules.
Many amateur athletes believe that if they qualify for a Pro Qualifier, this should be valid for more than a year.
The new rules mean that if an athlete does earn his or her right to compete for a Pro Card, they must do it in a year, or lose their right.
What does this mean for the athlete? These new rules mean that the athlete will suffer financially, meaning that they will have to pay more registration fees for contests each year, until they earn their Pro Card.
The rules are still not clear as a number of athletes are asking about the Regional Certificate’s they obtained in 2021. Are they valid for 2022?

2022 NPC Worldwide Regional Certificate Requirements
Effective January 1, 2022, Regional Certificates are valid ONLY within the same calendar year.
Any athlete who resides in a country with a Regional Certificate requirement must compete in a Regional contest in his or her country and must obtain a Regional Certificate before competing in a Pro Qualifier contest anywhere in the world. This Regional Certificate is valid only until December 31, 2022. In 2023 and each year thereafter, this athlete must again compete in a Regional contest in his or her country to meet the yearly Regional Certificate requirement.
If an athlete resides in a country with a Regional Certificate requirement but there are no Regional contests in that country until later in the year, the athlete may compete in a Pro Qualifier contest anywhere in the world provided the Pro Qualifier contest is held before the first Regional contest in his or her country. When this Regional contest is held, the athlete may not compete in any other Pro Qualifier contest without first obtaining a Regional Certificate from his or her country.
