Mohamed Shaaban earned his ticket to the 2022 Mr. Olympia by winning the 2022 Toronto Pro Show.
Mohamed finished on top from a line-up of eight bodybuilders, it was evident from the beginning that he was the favourite to win.
Theo Leguerrier finished in second, while Italy’s Andrea Muzi had to settle for third.
Muzi improved on his fourth place finish at the California Pro last week, but he still has time to earn his Mr. Olympia qualification.
Unfortunately, the Men’s 212 event only had four athletes competing. It seems the popularity for the 212 Division has decreased in popularity in the last couple of years. A number of athletes are finding it difficult to make weight and are moving up to the Open Division.
Canada’s Hossein Kalateh, earned his qualification for the 2022 Olympia Weekend with his victory, edging out Murat Gonal and Kentaro Kuramochi.
The Men’s Classic Physique Division is slowly becoming the most popular event at every contest. The classic physiques are catching the attention of the young and old.
Canada’s Tyler Johnson defeated a line-up of eight athletes to win the Men’s Classic Physique Division. Kwon Hyoung Joo finished in second after a fierce battle with Johnson. Cody Amey had to settle for third in a very tough line-up.
In the Bikini Division, 3X Ms. Bikini Olympia Ashley Kaltwasser added another victory to her resume. Ashley has the record for the most Pro victories and as it looks, she is not slowing down. Ha Yeun Kim finished in second, while Eli Fernandez had to settle for third.
Live Stream Controversy
The Toronto Pro show Live stream service was not a success for this event. It was ridiculously over priced, $42.85 for Prejudging and $53.50 for the finals.
This was most probably the most expensive live stream service to date. Bigger events such as The Olympia Weekend, Arnold Classic, WWE and other popular events don’t charge this much for their live stream service.
Many fans vented their frustration on social media and to top it off, the backdrop fell during the event.
If the Pro League want to go mainstream, they have to improve their livestream service and include professional commentators, and obviously a good high quality live stream.
