Photos & Results: 2024 IFBB Malta National Championships, Diamond Cup & Elite Pro Show.
The 2024 IFBB Malta Diamond Cup and Elite Pro show took place at the Corinthia St. George’s Bay Hotel, St. Julians, Malta, on 14 April 2024.
This event catered to three important events on IFBB’s calendar of events. The 2024 IFBB Malta National Championships, Diamond Cup, and Elite Pro show were all jammed into an exciting day of bodybuilding and fitness.
IFBB’s General Secretary and MFBBF President, Ralph Decelis, and his hard-working committee members, made sure the event was perfect, and all the athletes were given the highest priority.
The event also had a surprise visitor, IFBB President Rafael Santonja, his wife Nieves, and son, were also present for the event.
IFBB’s athletes always make a point of traveling to the beautiful Island of Malta to compete at their prestigious events.
2024 IFBB Malta National Championships
The 2024 IFBB Malta National Championships is a historic event in Malta. The island of Malta has a great history in bodybuilding, and several athletes went on to have very successful careers in the sport of bodybuilding.
The 2024 edition of the IFBB Malta National Championships was another exciting event, with some new athletes making their first appearance, and some veterans making a return to the competitive stage.
Nadia Potiomkina won the Fit-Model event, cementing her status as one of Malta’s best Fit-Model athletes. This event is gaining popularity amongst the female athletes.
There is always a beginning, and the Beginners Bikini event had four incredible athletes participate. Alae Bouzagah went on to win the event against three athletes who were in great condition.
Alae Bouzagbah continued to dominate the bikini division on the national level by also winning the Bikini Open event.
Naomi Buhagiar was declared the winner of the Wellness event.
Moving on to the Men’s events, the first event of the day was the Beginner’s Men’s Physique championships. For a beginner’s event, the level was very high, with all athletes displaying great condition. Dragan Stojanovic was declared the winner.
The next event was the Men’s Physique Open. The level of this event is always very high, and every athlete displayed great condition and balance. Local favorite, Andrew Farrugia, returned to the competitive stage after a long break, and it looked like he didn’t miss a beat. Andrew was declared the winner from a lineup of seven athletes.
The Men’s Classic Physique event was an exciting event, with Godwin Attard, who is in his mid-forties, going up against the young teenager, Miguel Borg.
This event was the competitive debut for both athletes, and they both were in top condition. Miguel went on to win the event, but the packed venue appreciated the performance of both athletes.
Miguel and Godwin both went on to participate at the 2024 Diamond Cup Malta event that took place on the same day.
The Men’s Bodybuilding event was an exciting moment during the 2024 IFBB Malta National Championships. The event consisted of three competitors, with Kurt Frendo winning the event. It must be noted that Matthew Seychell (No. 18) made his debut on the competitive stage, and Stephen Bonsfield (No. 19), returned to the stage after a long layoff.
The IFBB Malta National Championships is always a popular event. The atmosphere was electrifying with the spectators in attendance standing up and cheering their favorite athlete.
2024 IFBB Diamond Cup Malta
The 3034 IFBB Malta Diamond Cup event took place immediately after the Malta National Championships concluded.
The event was open to all IFBB-Affiliated National Federations, which was also an IFBB Elite Pro qualifier and an IFBB Amateur World Ranking Event.
Over 150 athletes from 30 countries have registered to compete at this event.
12 IFBB Elite Pro cards were distributed amongst the winners.
As with every IFBB Diamond Cup event, that is organized all over the world, the level of competition is very high. The best amateur athletes in the world take this event seriously, and it shows in the physiques they present on the competitive stage.
The IFBB Diamond Cup Malta is popular with athletes, as it’s just a few weeks before the prestigious IFBB European Championships, which takes place in Santa Susanna, Spain.
The event in Malta has always been a starting point from where several amateur athletes moved on to very successful professional careers in bodybuilding and fitness.

2024 IFBB Elite Pro Malta
The final event also catered to an IFBB Elite Pro show, which included two pro divisions, Body Fitness and Bikini Fitness. Top Elite Pro athletes made the trip to Malta to compete in this prestigious event.
IFBB Diamond Cup & IFBB Elite Pro Malta
The 2024 IFBB Elite Pro Malta event is always a favorite amongst professional athletes from all over the world. 17 athletes participated in the professional event, with nine competing in the Bodyfitness event, and eight competing in the Bikini event.
Several athletes who won their Elite Pro status in the Diamond Cup event just a few hours earlier made their pro debut at this event.
Simona Enica from the Netherlands won the Bodyfitness event, but it was not an easy task. The event was at a very high level, as expected when competing in the IFBB Elite Pro division.
The Bikini event was won by Darya Kainarova from Belarus. As with the Bodyfitness event, this event was at a very high level, and it was a very exciting event.
The IFBB Elite Pro events attract the best athletes in the world who earn their pro status through the very competitive IFBB amateur events.
