Physique updates after retirement – Jay Cutler and Flex Lewis

Physique updates Cutler Flex

Physique updates after retirement – Jay Cutler and Flex Lewis.

Two of the most successful modern-day bodybuilders, have continued to have success off the stage after their retirement. At the same time, they continued to keep in shape, regardless of their busy schedules.

Both Jay Cutler and Flex Lewis, have teased their fans with physique updates well into their retirement.

Jay Cutler will be celebrating his 50th birthday this August, while Flex Lewis will be turning 40 this November.

Cutler has challenged himself to be fit at 50, improving on his already exceptional physique.

The moment Cutler revealed his physique on his recent podcast, bodybuilding fans immediately started to speculate if Cutler will compete at the 2023 Masters Olympia.

Seven-time 212 Olympia winner Flex Lewis, is another bodybuilding legend that looks fantastic well into his retirement. It has been five years since Flex has competed at the highest level.

Flex was planning to return to the Open Mr. Olympia, thanks to a “Special Invite”, but injuries would prevent Flex from achieving his goal.

Competing for the final time in 2018, Flex Lewis downsized substantially.

In a recent post on his official Instagram page, Flex Lewis published his training schedule, and his physique update. Flex has downsized 60Lbs, removing the excess weight that he now longer needed, well into his retirement.

Flex Lewis’ Update

Goal: 210lbs – 215lbs (Healthy/ Athletic/ Jacked)
————————————————————

I have worked hard on losing just under 60lbs of weight (natural) over several months, and as most know I am not one for show casing what I look like at the best of times in prep, let alone hairy off-season. Lol
But….. its TIME to START and show my fans and followers the journey. I am about 2wks in and things are starting to click i am up a few pounds. Nothing has been consistent as I have also been traveling last three weeks. Business to family time.

It’s great seeing a number of bodybuilding legends remain healthy years into their retirement. Bodybuilding is a sport that can be very stressful on the body, causing a number of injuries, if training is not done properly.

The biggest mistake older active professional bodybuilders do, is not adjust their training regime according to their age.

Dexter Jackson is on record saying that he had to adjust his diet, and training, in his final years of competing.

Dexter traded free weights for weight machines, and cable exercises, to avoid serious injuries.

A lot can be learned from the veterans of the sport, and it is important to take note of their valuable points on longevity.
