It’s only natural for people who’ve added some weight to want to lose it quickly. A quick search on any search engine would bring out millions of search results of different methods to lose weight. Guess what, they all promise that their technique is effective including diet trends guaranteeing similar results. Choosing a single diet out of all the thousand ones out there can be challenging especially when you have no prior knowledge about them.

This article is not one to tell you which weight-loss diet is the best because no single diet suits everyone. Each individual is wired differently and what works for one may not work for the other. What should you do then? Research on any diet trend before following it. Listed below are some of the most popular diets that might help you shed some weight.

1.   Keto Diet

People in the fitness world would no doubt have heard about the famous keto or ketogenic diet. It is simply a combination of low-carb and high-fat diets that allows you to burn fat as fuel instead of as a carbohydrate. This is how it works: by decreasing the amount of carb you take, your body goes into a state known as ketosis state, where the fat stored in the body gets burnt for energy which ultimately leads to weight loss. Interesting, right?

If you decide to follow this diet, you can add avocados, coconuts, Brazil nuts, seeds, oily fish, and olive oil which are healthy sources of fat that can be added as you like. However, people are not usually advised to follow this diet for a very long time because of its high-fat content that can cause damage to the kidneys. It is also not a diet for pregnant women, people who suffer from an eating disorder, people with kidney diseases coupled with high cholesterol intake.

2.   Fasting Diet

You really didn’t think fasting was a diet trend? It is! The concept has been used in various religions for a very long time, but it has become more popular in recent years. This diet trend is more of a lifestyle habit where an individual has to eat as many calories as they can within a limited period and fast for the rest of the time. When you follow an intermittent fasting diet, it would help you restrict the number of calories you consume. That is an important practice to adhere to if you want to lose weight.

With this diet type, there would be no need to restrict yourself to any class of food. Just make sure that what you’re going to eat is nutritious and healthy. But, when fasting, a person is only permitted to drink water, diluted Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), coffee with no sugar, or tea with just a spoon of milk. There are several types of fasting you can try out just ensure you attempt what your strength can carry.

3.   Vegan Diet

This has become a very popular diet probably because of the acceptance of vegetarianism. In a vegan diet, all forms of animal products are avoided for different reasons. Apart from restrictions on meat, people also avoid taking dairy products and products derived from animals, like gelatin, honey, milk, albumin, whey, and certain forms of vitamin D3.

People who follow this diet do so majorly for ethical reasons but it has also been known to not only aid weight loss, but can help prevent diseases such as heart disease, cancers, and diabetes. What this diet does is help you remain full, which would prevent you from eating unhealthy snacks after a meal. There is a drawback anyway, it is most times low in some important nutrients (vitamin B12, iodine, zinc, iron, vitamin D, calcium, and omega-3 fatty acids).

4.   DASH Diet

The DASH diet has once being named the second-best diet of a whole year. The way Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension diet is designed, it prepares an eating plan that helps people treat or prevent high blood pressure and lose weight too.

Depending on your calorie intake, the DASH diet recommends a special serving of multiple food groups. It is more of eating a combination of plenty of fruits, lean meats, vegetables, and whole grains. There is little to low salt, red meat, sugar, and fat in this diet. By reducing calories, sugar, and fat people get to lose weight.

There are still so many other weight loss diets apart from the ones listed here that you can look into. However, irrespective of the one you decide to select, ensure you get proper understanding of how it works.
