Rare photos from the 1992 Mr. Olympia published by Milos Sarcev
Bodybuilding legend and coach, Milos Sarcev, has an incredible photo archive of bodybuilding photos.
Always seen with a camera in hand, Milos always made sure he took photos of the great bodybuilders around him training, or competing.
In his latest post on his popular Instagram page, Milos has just published several photos of the historic 1992 Mr. Olympia. Dorian Yates won the first of his six consecutive Mr. Olympia titles.
The selection of photos that Milos published includes the late Mohammed Benaziza, Kevin Levrone, Shawn Ray, Lou Ferrigno, Lee Labrada, Dorian Yates, and an assortment of other photos from this event.
Kevin Levrone made his Mr. Olympia debut in 1992, and placed second behind Dorian Yates. This event would launch a very successful career for Kevin Levrone, who would go on to win practically every title that there was to be won, with the Mr. Olympia title missing from his long list of victories.
We cannot write this article without mentioning the great Shawn Ray, who placed fourth at the 1992 Mr. Olympia. Shawn is no doubt one of the greatest bodybuilders to ever grace the competitive stage. Shawn not only had an incredible physique but he is also known to be one of the greatest posers in the history of the sport.
Dorian Yates was one of the favorites to win the 1992 Mr. Olympia, just falling short against the great Lee Haney in 1991. Lee Haney would announce his retirement in 1992, after winning his eighth consecutive Mr. Olympia title, leaving the title vacant in 1992.
Nobody could match Dorian Yates’ size and incredible condition, something that was never seen at that time. Dorian might not have had the most pleasing physique to look at, but he sure had the size, condition, and incredible back development, that crushed his opponents.
Included in the set of photos that Milos published are of the late Mohammed Benaziza.
Mohammed was an incredible bodybuilder, who went on to defeat Dorian Yates at the 1990 Night of Champions.
Unfortunately, Mohammed passed away the night he won the 1992 Holland Grand Prix, while he was on the European tour, right after the 1992 Mr. Olympia, where he placed fifth.
Mohammed’s death shocked the bodybuilding world and had a great effect on several bodybuilders, such as his close friend Steve Brisbois, who would announce his retirement from professional bodybuilding immediately afterwards.
