Rubiel Mosquera called out by bodybuilding media.

Bodybuilding freak, Rubiel Mosquera, better known as “Neckzilla”, seems to have got himself in an awkward situation with the media, after back tracking on what he said, and at the same time labelling several media channels as “Fake News”.

What started this nightmare for Rubiel Mosquera? 

Immediately after his fourth place finish at the 2024 Dubai Pro, Rubiel went to his social media to talk about his placing, and how he was feeling a few days before, and during the event.

After the show, Rubiel confirmed that he was not feeling well, and did not want to compete, but he said that he was allegedly pressured to compete by his sponsor.

While he was happy placing fourth, Rubiel expected to place higher, which in reality was a daunting task, with Behrouz Tabani, William Bonac and Nathan De Asha in the same lineup. The show was eventually was won by Behrouz Tabani.

Immediately after his comments on social media, bodybuilding websites such as “Generation Iron”, and the popular Instagram page “Whoisthebestbb”, published articles translating and explaining what Rubiel said himself on his videos. These websites were doing their job.

The most damaging comment by Rubiel was that he was pushed to compete by his sponsors.

Obviously, a sponsor will not be happy with any athlete that calls them out in such a manner, and as with all major contracts, the athlete has to fulfil the contract they signed.

Now, we are not saying the sponsor forced Rubiel to compete, as other media outlets might have alledged, but if Rubiel was not in his best condition, and maybe not feeling well, he should not even mention his sponsors after the show in such a manner.

Nick’s Strength and Power published the video that Rubiel deleted when he mentioned his sponsor and his latest video, denying what he said previously.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

In recent weeks, some media outlets have reported that Rubiel has blocked them from viewing his Instagram account. Rubiel can do whatever he wants, but blocking a major media channel just because they criticised a physique, or had a news snippet that you did not agree with is going to far.

What athletes such as Rubiel is not considering is that the moment they slip or have a bad event, the same media channels that he blocked will do whatever it takes to make him look bad.

Rubiel must remember that the bodybuilding media can make or break you, no matter how big the channel is.

Evolutionofbodybuilding.net has had this experience with a number of people in the industry, and recently bodybuilding legend Chris Cormier.

We will continue to respect Cormier for his contribution to the bodybuilding industry, but blocking this website from his social media channels just because we published an article stating what he thought about Rubiel, is ridiculous.

Chris did not even realise what he said on Dennis James podcaste, this site just published the video of Cormier saying the exact words, he cannot deny it, but somehow, he tried to, and took the easy way out and blocked this website and its owner.

Unfortunately, this is the type of industry we are working in. We have to be careful what we say about certain athletes and coaches, as they will respond in an aggressive manner, not realizing they are participating in a sport that is based on criticism.
