‘Giant Killer’ Shaun Clarida wins the 2021 Legion Sports Fest Pro.
Just when we thought bodybuilding was losing its direction, ‘Giant Killer’ Shaun Clarida steps on stage with the big boys and wins the 2021 Legion Sports Fest Pro.
The 2020 212 Olympia champion, Shaun Clarida, decided to compete in the open division at the 2021 Legion sports Fest Pro that took place in Reno, Nevada on 24 October, 2021.
The contest had a very deep lineup, with some of the best bodybuilders in the NPC/Pro League fighting for their 2022 Olympia qualification.
The top names such as Cedric McMillan, Sergio Oliva Jr., Regan Grimes, Maxx Charles, Patrick Moore and many more made the lineup of 18 athletes.
Going into the show, Cedric McMillan, Regan Grimes and Sergio Oliva Jr. were picked to be the favorites to win the event.
One media outlet, Strengthaddicts.com predicted that Shaun would win the event. Christian Duque predicted Shaun to win and it happened.
When the competition started, it was evident, some of the top five favorites were not going to make a good impression, they were not in the condition expected of them.
Cedric, one of the favorites, was literally blown away. Even with his great genetics, his condition was way off and he did not even finish the contest. Even Cedric himself thought he was a disappointment as he published a post on his official Instagram page saying “Well it’s Official… I suck.”
Other top names such as Maxx Charles, Patrick Moore disappointed as well.
It was evident from the start that it would be a contest between Regan Grimes, Sergio Oliva Jr. and Shaun Clarida.
Regan made massive improvements under the watchful eye of his new coach Milos Sarcev. It will not be long before me see Regan dominating a number of events.
Sergio bounced back from what he called a disappointing performance at the 2021 Arnold Classic. Having to settle for third, Sergio can go home confident he will have more success in the 2022 season.
The winner, Shaun Clarida, might have been dwarfed on stage by his fellow competitors, but they could not match his chiseled physique.
Shaun went head to head with his bigger competitors and was made to work hard to give the judges a reason to give him the nod for victory,
At the end of the show, it would be between Shaun and the much improved Regan Grimes, and it would be Shaun who walks away with the victory and can be called the new official ‘Giant Killer’
What will Shaun decide to do in the future? Will he move up to the open or continue competing in the 212 division?
