Chris Bumstead, just weeks after announcing his retirement, has confirmed that he will be competing at the 2024 EVLS Prague Pro in the Men’s Open Bodybuilding event.

After winning six consecutive Men’s Classic Physique Olympia titles, everybody believed that Chris would not go back on his decision to retire from the sport on top.

The news that Chris decided to move up to the open bodybuilding division, has created a buzz in the bodybuilding world, with fans and athletes celebrating Chris Bumstead’s decision.

Chris confirmed his participation in the 2024 EVLS Prague Pro show in a short post on his social media.

“Y’all said I had a decent physique and should try competing… so I figured I’d give it shot.
One more run just for fun, giving the people what they want.

3 weeks out of the EVLS Prague Pro Open Bodybuilding event.

I started my competing career in open bodybuilding, with no expectations, just for the love of the sport. So why not finish it in the same fashion.”


Chris has the biggest following on social media, with over four million subscribers on YouTube, and over 25 million followers on Instagram. Chris’ popularity will open up the sport of bodybuilding to a wider range of fans, more than any other athlete in the history of the sport.

Chris will be going into this event with now pressure, he already has an exceptional physique, which now he will not be tied down with any weight restrictions.

Going into the show, Chris is a favourite to place in the top three, and there is a great chance he can win the show, and qualify for the 2025 Mr. Olympia, and compete in the open bodybuilding event.

There will be a lot of discussions in the next few weeks about Chris Bumstead’s decision, we can expect them to be all positive, encouraging Chris not to walk away from a sport that still needs him participating.

At 29, Chris has already accomplished what every bodybuilder dreams of achieving. At such a young age, Chris still has many more years ahead of him, if he still wants to compete at the highest level.
