Women’s Physique competitor Amy Richardson passes away at 49.
The bodybuilding world mourns the death of IFBB Pro Women’s Physique competitor Amy Richardson.
Amy Richardson passed away at the age of 49, on 25 January, 2023.
According to Amy’s Instagram page, she contracted pneumonia and the flu while in Vegas, attending the 2022 Olympia Weekend.
Immediately upon her arrival at home after the 2022 Olympia Weekend, Amy confirmed her illness, “Lucky me…caught pneumonia and the flu while in Vegas….double whammy. Starting to feel a little better but lost lots of my gains…time to reset and restart. Thanks to my hubby who has been taking care of me… Merry Christmas everyone!,” Amy explained.
Richardson then published another update, as her illness turned for the worse, “Oh great! Now I have a rash all over my body and it kinda hurts a little! Trifecta!! Hot fuckin mess!!”
Amy’s last posts were published four days before her death, thanking friends and family for the gifts she received at the hospital.
It’s not known if her death was caused by complications from pneumonia, the official reason has not been confirmed.
Amy was an active Women’s Physique competitor, within the IFBB Pro League. Amy competed in the Open and Master divisions.
Amy was very active in the 2022 season, competing at various events, in the Open and Masters divisions.
Competing in the Open division was a challenging task for Richardson, but she produced some very good results in the Masters division, being a consistent top five finisher.
Bodybuilding was not the only sport Amy competed in, she was also a very successful professional powerlifter.
Messages of condolences flooded the internet from family and friends, immediately after the announcement of Amy’s death.
