Big Ramy: Controversy and Damage Control

Big Ramy Controversy Damage

Big Ramy: Controversy and Damage Control.

It has not been an easy year for Big Ramy in regards to controversy. From losing his major sponsor to skipping Jim Manion’s Pittsburgh Pro, Big Ramy has to focus on defending his Mr. Olympia title, or he will lose it.

Big Ramy should be focussed on trying to defend and win his third Mr. Olympia title. Unfortunately, it has not been an easy year for the big man from Egypt.

Back home in Egypt, Big Ramy is a superstar, but in the bodybuilding world, he has literally disappeared.

Ramy has been compared to 6X Mr. Olympia The “Shadow” Dorian Yates, but Ramy has taken this to another level, when it comes to hiding from the spotlight.

Losing a major sponsorship and skipping Jim Manion’s event

The first big blow for Big Ramy was losing his main sponsorship from Enhanced Labs. Big Ramy and his coach Dennis James were both sponsored by Enhanced Labs, but unfortunately the deal ended.

From all the athletes in the bodybuilding world, it would be expected that a sponsor would get the most from the most popular bodybuilder in the world, but this did not happen according to Enhanced Labs Tony Huge.

Just recently, more information has been revealed about the split between Big Ramy, Dennis James and Enhanced Labs.

Fast forward to the 2022 Jim Manion’s Pittsburgh Pro, Big Ramy made another crucial mistake by skipping this event. The Pittsburgh Pro is known for having the best bodybuilders in the world, guest posing at this event. If Jim Manion wants you at the event, you have to go.

Big Ramy was the main focus of this event and his image was used in all the promotional material. When it was show time, Dennis James made the trip to Pittsburgh to see his athlete, but Big Ramy was a no show.

From all the shows, the Pittsburgh Pro is vital for the top guest posers, it is not wise to miss it for obvious reasons. Not only was Big Ramy a no show, but he did not even contact anybody to notify them that he was not making the trip to Pittsburgh.

Big Ramy did not call or inform anybody that he would not be making the trip, leaving the Manion’s, Dennis James and all the bodybuilding world in shock.

The bodybuilding world had to wait a few weeks until Big Ramy published an apology on his social media, but he still did not give an explanation on why he skipped the Pittsburgh Pro.

Damage control: Interviews and Contacting Dan Solomon

Not long after his apology on social media, Big Ramy made himself available for a number of interviews.

During the interview, Big Ramy made a shocking revelation that he might walk away from the sport of bodybuilding when he is 38 years old, meaning he has basically one more year to compete. At the same time, he reassured his fans that he will defend his title this December.

With his superstar status in Egypt, Big Ramy most probably took advantage of his popularity to secure his future financially.

Next was the telephone conversation with the President of the Mr. Olympia, Dan Solomon. Big Ramy again, confirmed that he will be fighting to defend his title this December.

“I had a phone call today with our reigning Mr. Olympia. I’ve seen some of the recent videos, the rumors, the various news reports, so I didn’t know what to expect from the conversation. — We spoke about life and family, and of course we talked about this year’s Olympia. I was impressed by his intensity…his hunger…and his focus. — Before we ended our call, the #1 bodybuilder on the planet paused and said, “Dan, I will be ready. And I will win number three. I will show the world in December.”
“It was nice talking to you, Champ.
“But you better be ready, there’s a lot of hungry champions who want your title!!!2 – Dan Solomon.

A third Mr. Olympia title is not guaranteed

To win a Mr. Olympia title, the athlete obviously has to have the best physique, but he has to be prepared mentally as well. The athlete has to be 100% focused and with no distractions.

It was evident that Dennis James and Chad Nicholls made sure Big Ramy was mentally focused for his two Mr. Olympia victories. During the comparison rounds, Big Ramy was 100% focused and totally dominated his competition, the look on his face was proof of this.

This December it will be a different story. The partnership between Dennis James and Big Ramy is still not confirmed for 2022 and this can have serious consequences on Big Ramy’s prep for the show.

Big Ramy is a bodybuilder that needs a team behind him giving him support and guiding him. The majority of Big Ramy’s major victories is thanks to his support team.

Months before the Mr. Olympia, Dennis James would invite Big Ramy to his home and perfect his posing and oversee his training and diet. This year, as it looks, there is a big chance that this might not happen.

Not only does Big Ramy have to worry about himself, but his competition are catching up. 2019 Mr. Olympia Brandon Curry will do everything to win his title back, Hadi Choopan, William Bonac, Hunter Labrada and Nick Walker, have all gained ground on Big Ramy.

Big Ramy is totally in offseason mode, but not with the freaky bulky size as his competitors. Be Ramy is looking like he is totally clean and is looking down in size, if his photos are up to date.

With six months till the 2022 Mr. Olympia, Big Ramy has a lot of work to do and possibly is already behind in his prep.

Dennis James reveals more about Enhanced Labs and their split

Months after the news was revealed that Big Ramy and Dennis James cut their ties with Enhanced Labs. Dennis James finally revealed his side of the story in a recent podcast.

“I’m going to bring up [Big] Ramy now. People are saying, ‘oh! His sponsor kicked him out, he lost his sponsor.’ Then, they bring, I don’t know where they had Tony on the podcast, somewhere on a show. He explained and he didn’t really want to tell the truth, of course not. But he didn’t trash Ramy.

“He just basically went with what people are thinking and saying, ‘yeah he’s got so much shit going on in the middle east, he doesn’t need it, blah blah blah.’ It’s a bunch of bullshit! I was waiting for a title to tell the truth about what really happened. Because at the end of the day, nobody kicked anybody out.” Dennis James explained.

“First of all, he did not lose his sponsor. He did not lose his sponsor because he didn’t do what he’s supposed to do. We did everything we were supposed to do by contract. Every single thing that was in the contract was done, and even more. Those are the most unprofessional people that I’ve ever worked with in my whole entire life when it comes to supplement companies, and I’ve been around. The most unprofessional supplement company. They had no idea.

“Tony Huge, who is doing all this crazy stuff on YouTube, he’s over there in Thailand, so he’s basically not doing nothing. I’m going to tell you guys, here’s what happened. They contacted me right after Ramy won his first Olympia. To somebody, it was the guy who was working as a CEO or whatever. He contacted me and made an offer. I told him basically, we don’t need gas money okay? This guy had no idea. He didn’t know any bodybuilder. He didn’t know who I was. He didn’t know who Ramy was.”

“I met these people solely to negotiate with Ramy because that was the deal. We did the Cheesecake Factory, this guy sits in front of me, with this other guy Trever, who develops products for them. He said, ‘we want to sign Ramy and we want to sign you too.’ I said, ‘me? Why me?’ He said, ‘yeah because we think you guys are a great team and we want to keep you guys together.’ This is how it all started.

“To make a long story short. Now, we ended up with two contracts. One for Ramy, and one for myself. We did everything we were supposed to do. The problem was these guys were so unprofessional they had no idea how to run this business. They though, you know, spending all this money on stupid shit, at booths at the expo. Listen, you don’t have to have a booth or a crazy amount of money. When you have Mr. Olympia there, you can just put two tables there, and you’ll have a crowd.

“The other issue was that the money didn’t come from Enhanced by itself. The money came from two or three total distributors. Enhanced here, a distributor in Dubai and a distributor in India. They all had to chip in to pay Ramy. Every month. The biggest problem that we found out real quick was they were fighting with each other. It was the biggest clusterfuc* of a company I’ve ever seen in my life.

“At the end of the day, some of these guys weren’t able to pay anymore. So now, what do you do if you don’t get paid? You don’t get paid one month. You don’t get paid the second month, we’re not talking a couple of thousand dollars here. But now, we’re still doing our thing, posting, still doing out thing. In the meantime, they tried to go behind my back and negotiate with Ramy another contract for less money. Those guys are fuc**n crooks. This is the biggest bullshit I’ve ever seen. At the end of the day, they did not pay for four months and that’s when we stopped posting.” Dennis James reiterated.

This is not the environment that Big Ramy should be in. His first task should be is to straighten things out with Dennis James or just find another coach. Whatever his decision is, he must work fast or he has a big chance of losing his Mr. Olympia title.
