Nick Walker reveals that he was molested as a child.
Bodybuilding champion Nick Walker, has recently been interviewed by Hany Rambod on his popular podcast, “The Truth”
During his interview, Nick Walker talked about his beginnings in bodybuilding and his future goals, like winning the Mr. Olympia.
Winning the New York Pro and Arnold Classic in 2021, instantly made Nick Walker a one of the favorites to lift the Mr. Olympia title.
Walker not only spoke about bodybuilding, but he revealed a very private and sensitive incident, that happened to him when he was a child.
Nick Walker molested by his teacher
At the age of 12, Nick Walker revealed that he was molested by his art teacher.
“When I was a child, I was molested. So, growing up, I tended to isolate myself quite often, and training was more of the scapegoat for me to take my anger out and be alone.
“I kept this inside for years. I mean it happened when I was 12. I didn’t come out and tell my mother and father until I was 16.”
Nick continued to reveal that he lied to his mother about being molested by his art teacher at school. “It’s embarrassing to admit things like that around that age,” added Walker.
“I couldn’t even look at her because I don’t think she was expecting me to say what I said. I think she was expecting me to say things that he would say and not the fact that I was actually molested,” concluded Walker.
An investigation took place and later the art teacher was eventually arrested. The arrest took place on the same day that Nick Walker competed at the Teen nationals in 2014.
“When I was a child, I was molested. So, growing up, I tended to isolate myself quite often, and training was more of the scapegoat for me to take my anger out and be alone.” – Nick Walker
Nick Walker believes that if he shares his story, he might help others that might be going through the same situation he went through, and not go down the wrong path as he did.
“The reason why I’m more open about it now is that I did take dark paths at a very young age. I got very deep into hard drugs when I was younger, a lot of fights, and partying.”
The younger generation of bodybuilders can learn from Walker’s story.
Training was a scapegoat for Nick Walker
As with many other bodybuilders, they turn to the gym as therapy. Nick Walker turned to the gym and channeled his anger through his training.
As he continued training, Nick eventually would progress in the sport of bodybuilding, to eventually become one of the best bodybuilders in the sport.
Turning a negative into a positive, is how Nick overcame a problem that could have easily destroyed him mentally and physically.
