“The current state of bodybuilding is in danger” – Lee Haney

“The current state of bodybuilding is in danger” – Lee Haney.

One of the greatest bodybuilders to ever grace the bodybuilding stage, 8X Mr. Olympia, Lee Haney, is worried about the state of bodybuilding.

In the last few years, deaths have been on the rise in the bodybuilding industry, with athletes dying at a very young age.

Bodybuilding legend, Lee Haney, used his popular social media channels to express his feelings about the state of the sport of bodybuilding.

Haney insisted that bodybuilding needs to go back to the “Old School” ways, when judging was based on symmetry, muscularity, and posing.

Fast forward to modern-day bodybuilding, Lee Haney warns that the current state of bodybuilding is in danger with athletes determined to get shredded glutes, and stepping on stage too dry, which means they are not drinking enough water, which can lead to kidney failure or even a heart attack.

“Get rid of dangerous language such as “you need to be drier” which to athletes means stop drinking water. Destroying their kidneys and causing possible heart attacks.”

Lee Haney’s Message

“Old school bodybuilding placed emphasis on symmetry, muscularity, and posing presentation.”

“Points were awarded in all three categories. The most striated glutes or near-death dried-out skeletal physique wasn’t a determining factor. The current state of bodybuilding is in danger due to the recent outcomes. Bodybuilding deaths are on the rise at early ages.”

“What’s sad is that the young upcoming bodybuilders don’t know the difference because the judging criteria have gotten out of sync.”

“The foundation of our sport needs to be re-booted. One that will rekindle the beauty of our sport, by bringing back the former judging rounds as mentioned earlier, and put safe contest guidelines in action when athletes are being judged.”

“Get rid of dangerous language such as “you need to be drier” which to athletes means stop drinking water. Destroying their kidneys and causing possible heart attacks.”

“Old school bodybuilders are alive and doing well. Many are in their late seventies and some eighties.

“Whenever the foundation of anything is compromised, disaster is always around the corner. It is my sincere hope that this post will have an impact on the sport that has allowed me to travel the world and develop lifelong friendships.”

“As 8-time Mr. Olympia, I will do everything I can to protect it. It’s all love my Iron Brothers and Iron Sisters”

“To me, Cedric MCmillian was the epitome of Excalibur Physiques.” – Lee Haney

When one of the most respected people in the industry, such as Lee Haney, points out these problems, the powers that be must listen and do everything in their power to correct the situation.

Lee Haney published a photo of the late Cedric McMillan with his message. Cedric presented a physique that was not dry to the bone, but it was elegant and flowing. Cedric had the potential to be one of the greatest bodybuilders that ever lived. Unfortunately, the judges saw it differently and gave the nod the mass monsters, that looked like freaks.

Athletes cannot just keep dropping dead, wither from abuse of PEDs, or extreme diets. The sport of bodybuilding must be a healthy sport, and not a death sentence.
