Athletes shine at the 2020 IFBB Diamond Cup and Elite Pro Show Malta.

The Covid-19 threat could not stop the IFBB-Malta organizing committee from putting together a world-class event.

IFBB-Malta President Ralph Decelis defied the odds by fighting to the end to make sure the event took place.

The amateur athletes arrived on 29 August 2020 to register and weigh-in with the Elite Pro athletes arriving for their registration later in the evening.

IFBB President Rafael Santonja also made the trip to Malta to give his support to the events.

On 30 August 2020, the day finally arrived for the IFBB to restart their competition season.

The IFBB Diamond Cup started in the afternoon, immediately after the IFBB-Malta National Championships concluded.

The level of competition was very high, taking in consideration the difficult situation all the athletes had to face due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

137 athletes (including crossovers) participated in this prestigious international event.

For the first time in the history of Maltese bodybuilding, three athletes earned their pro status on home turf.

Sabrina Grima dominated the Bikini Fitness category to earn her right to become a IFBB Elite Pro.

Janet Zammit placed second in the Master Women’s Bodyfitness Open to also earn her IFBB Elite Pro status.

Finally, Nigel Sullivan was the third Maltese athlete to earn his pro status in the Men’s Physique category.

One amateur athlete that stood out was Christian Angrevier from France. His almost perfect proportions stood out above the rest.

Christian competed in the Men’s Classic Physique category and he stage presence was noticed by all.

The Men’s Bodybuilding overall title went to Poland’s Pawel Wodyk. Italian athletes Massimiliano Saccone and Giuliano Bufano placed second and third respectfully.

Pawel Wodyk’s success did not end here, immediately after receiving his IFBB Elite Pro card, he would go on to win the IFBB elite Pro show just a few hours later.

After the exciting IFBB Diamond Cup event ended, it was time for the IFBB Elite Pro’s top step on stage.

23 IFBB Elite Pro athletes made the trip to Malta and were all looking fantastic for this event.

Eight athletes competed in the popular Wellness Fitness category. Vrazil’s Lexy Oliver took home the top prize and earned her qualification for the IFBB Elite Pro World Championships.

The IFBB Elite Pro Bodyfitness victory went to Czech Republic’s Tereza Linhartova. This was another great line up of eight athletes.

The popular Men’s Bodybuilding event had seven athletes in the line-up. Fan favorite Tomas Kaspar had to settle for second place behind the new pro from Poland Pawel Wodyk.

Pawel Wodyk went from being a amateur to winning a Elite Pro show and qualifying for the 2020 IFBB Elite Pro World Championships.
