Dan Solomon confirms Flex Lewis must qualify for the 2022 Mr. Olympia.
President & Chief Olympia Officer, Dan Solomon, has confirmed that Flex Lewis will have to qualify for the 2022 Mr. Olympia.
Since Flex Lewis confirmed he is moving up to the Open Division, the qualification situation of Flex Lewis has been a subject discussed by the majority of bodybuilding media.
Flex Lewis has won seven consecutive 212 Olympia titles and many believed that he did not need to qualify for the Mr. Olympia Open Division, but Dan Solomon put a end to the speculation.
In a recent post on his Instagram page, Dan Solomon answered some questions related to the 2022 Olympia Weekend. One of the questions was if Flex Lewis is automatically qualified for the Mr. Olympia Open Division.
Dan Solomon confirmed that Flex is lifetime qualified for the 212 Olympia as he is a winner of the title, but in regards to the Mr. Olympia Open Division, Flex must qualify to compete at the 2022 Mr. Olympia.
The other option that could be presented to Flex is if the Olympia Weekend organizers offer Flex Lewis a ‘Special Invitation’ to the event.
We all know what Flex is capable of bringing to the stage and he should not have a problem qualifying for the 2022 Mr. Olympia. There are numerous Olympia Weekend qualifiers leading up to the 2022 Olympia Weekend, and Flex Lewis will always be a favorite to win any show he competes in.
Some might see this as a harsh decision by the Olympia Weekend organizers, but if Flex was granted automatic qualification, the same privilege would have to be granted other Olympia winners in other divisions.
The Olympia lifetime qualification privilege only applies to the winner and they are only qualified for the division they won their Olympia title.
Attempting to qualify for the 2022 Mr. Olympia will be a good test for Flex Lewis. This would give Flex a good idea of what he is up against. Surely stepping on stage with athletes that are much bigger than him, will be a good challenge for the 7X 212 Olympia winner.
