212 Olympia legend Flex Lewis officially retires.
7X 212 Olympia winner Flex Lewis, has shocked the bodybuilding world after he has officially announced his retirement from competitive bodybuilding.
Since his last 212 Olympia victory in 2018, Flex Lewis has always aimed to compete in the open division at the Mr. Olympia.
After recovering from some injuries, Flex Lewis was planning to compete at the 2022 Olympia Weekend.
From the the outside, everything was looking good for Flex in the lead up to the 2022 Olympia Weekend, but the champion bodybuilder had other things on his mind.
Opening a very successful gym in Vegas and welcoming his new son into the world, destiny had other plans for the champion bodybuilder.
Olympia Weekend President, Dan Solomon, was one of the first to officially announce the news of Flex Lewis retiring from the sport of competitive bodybuilding.
“I received a call last night from Flex Lewis. — It was an emotional conversation. As he started talking it was easy to tell that he put a lot of thought into what he was about to tell me. — “I’m hanging up my posing trunks. Retiring from competing.” — I could tell he felt relieved by his decision. It had been weighing on him for several months as he sorted thru all aspects of life, while also celebrating the recent birth of his son. — I told Flex how proud I am of his decision. I’ve watched closely over the years as he reached the top of his sport, always a crowd favorite. Flex made the decision to put his family first, choosing to prioritize things that mean far more than titles or trophies…..shifting his focus toward a future that includes dancing at his daughter’s wedding, building businesses, and enjoying life with his wife Ali. — One of the hardest things to do in life is knowing when it’s time to walk away, so please join me in congratulating “The Welsh Dragon” on his decision to end one chapter…..and begin another. I have a feeling Flex is just getting started.” – Dan Solomon.
The right decision?
Many in the industry are debating if Flex made the right decision by walking away from competitive bodybuilding, not trying his luck at the open Mr. Olympia.
Evolutionofbodybuilding.net believes that Flex made the right decision, walking away from the sport in good health and with a great future to look forward to.
Flex has nothing to prove, he will be remembered as one of the best and most successful bodybuilders in the history of the sport.
