Is Rubiel Mosquera the new ‘Real Deal’?

Is Rubiel Mosquera the new ‘Real Deal’?

Bodybuilding champion, Rubiel ‘Neck Zilla’ Mosquera, is the most talked about athlete in the bodybuilding world at the moment.

At the 2023 EVLS Prague Pro event, Rubiel earned his pro status with the Pro League and went on to place third, at the pro event the following day.

Rubiel is not a new face to bodybuilding, he was an established professional bodybuilder within the IFBB Elite Pro league, until a few months ago.

With the departure of Michal Krizio from the IFBB Elite Pro league, just over a year ago, Rebiel was the next in line to challenge IFBB Elite Pro’s top star Mika Sihvonen.

Rubiel was in a good position with the IFBB Elite Pro league. He had a contract with IFBB’s official magazine, Muscle & Health, amongst other deals.

Not long after Rubiel turned pro, he signed a contract with a supplement company that sponsors bodybuilding legend, Chris Cormier, and former Classic Physique Olympia winner, Breon Ansley.

The writing was on the wall, and it was not long before Rubiel’s relationship broke down with the IFBB Elite Pro, and he decided to switch over to the NPC.

Rubiel Mosquera teams up with Chris Cormier

Bodybuilding legend Chris Cormier noticed the potential in Rubiel, and immediately convinced him to work with him, promising him success within the NPC and Pro League.

Rubiel is gifted with freakish leg development, that slightly overpowers his upper body. Cormier knows Rubiel has to bring up his upper body, to guarantee success in the near future.

Rubiel would make his NPC debut at the 2023 EVLS amateur event in Prague. As expected, the momentum was with Rubiel, and he earned his pro status without any real competition.

Rubiel’s presence on stage is something that has not been seen since the days of Tom Platz.

The next evening, Rubiel would make his pro debut and managed to place third, in a deep lineup, placing ahead of established athletes, such as Nathan De Asha and Roman Fritz.

Rubiel even made Michal Krizo look small, but Michal’s slightly better condition and balance gave him the edge to finish in second, behind Samuel Dauda.

Chris Cormier is one of the most knowledgeable people in the industry, thanks to his successful bodybuilding career. Cormier surely sees something special in Rubiel, as he cannot hide his excitement and praise for his new athlete.

The new ‘Real Deal’

With his success, Rubiel is the new ‘Real Deal’, and his ready to dominate the pro circuit.

It will be an exciting year for Rubiel, as he will be in the hunt to qualify for the 2024 Olympia Weekend, and make his Mr. Olympia debut.

Cormier has already hinted that Rubiel will skip the 2024 Arnold Classic, to give his body a rest, and possibly compete at the 2024 New York Pro or another Olympia qualifier.

We still have to see Rubiel stand next to athletes such as Nick Walker, Hunter Labrada, Regan Grimes, Hadi Choopan, Brandon Curry, and many more top athletes.

The judges will have a difficult task comparing an aesthetically pleasing Regan Grimes to Rubiel, and it will be interesting to see the outcome.

Whatever the results he achieves in 2024, Rubiel has already achieved some impressive goals, and he has a great future to look forward to.

Rubiel still has a lot of work to do, building his upper body to achieve balance with his incredible leg development.

Achieving Olympia qualification is not impossible, and if Rubiel picks the right show, we will see him make his Olympia debut in 2024.
