1992 NPC Teen National Overall Champion Matt McLaughlin passes away.

The bodybuilding world has lost another champion bodybuilder. 1992 NPC Teen National Overall champion, Matt McLaughlin has passed away.

The news of Matt’s death was confirmed on Facebook by his friend, Kevin Mcgaunn.

“My heart is heavy as I share the news that my dear friend Matt McLaughlin has passed away today. It is with deep sadness that I write this to let our friends know of his passing. Matt was a generous, and caring person who touched the lives of many. He will be greatly missed and remembered with love and respect. Please keep his family in your thoughts during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Matt.” – Kevin Mcgaunn.

Bodybuilding champion, Jose Raymond remembers Matt – “I grew up the next town over from Matt, saw him often when I was a teenager, he was 2 years older than me but looked 15 years older when it came to muscle size and maturity. Matt was absolutely one of the freakiest people you’d ever see in person and that was during the days of Demayo and Metarrazzo. A man of very few words but polite and supportive when he did speak. Very sad to hear of his passing.”

Matt had a brief bodybuilding career, and according to his friends and several competitors, he had the potential to be a successful professional bodybuilder.

In 1992, Matt made a name for himself by winning the NPC Teen National Overall Championships.

In 1993, Matt also finished in first place at the NPC North American Championships, in the Light-Heavyweight category.

After his last victory in 1992, Matt would continue to compete till 2001, moving up to the heavyweight category.

According to reports, at the 1997 NPC Massachusetts Championships, Matt was expected to win but finished second in the Heavyweight division. Matt’s friends and partner did not take his second-place finish lightly and had to be removed from the event.

It was also reported that Matt smashed his trophy at the end of the show.

Evolutionofbodybuilding.net sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Matt McLaughlin during this difficult time.
