Arnold Schwarzenegger remembers his best friend Franco Columbu on his 80th birthday.
On August 7, 1941, Franco Columbu was born, he would become one of the best and most loved bodybuilders in the history of the sport.
From his beginnings, Franco met Arnold Schwarzenegger, a young Austrian bodybuilder. Not knowing the success they would both have, Franco and Arnold Schwarzenegger would become lifelong best friends.
From their early beginnings, fighting to survive as young bodybuilders in America, working in construction to make ends meet and moving on to conquering the bodybuilding world.
As Franco lived a more modest life, after his retirement, he would become a very successful chiropractor and would star in a number of films.
Arnold on the other hand, after retiring from the sport of bodybuilding, he would become one of the worlds most popular actors and even become the Governor of California.
With both Arnold and Franco living very busy and successful lives, one thing would never change, their fantastic friendship.
Franco and Arnold would celebrate special family moments in their lives together until the day Franco unfortunately passed away on 30 August, 2019.
Arnold was always happy when he was with Franco, and it showed. Arnold has made many friends in his life, but nobody will fill the void left by Franco…

On 7 August, 2021, Franco would have celebrated his 80th birthday.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, still to this day misses his dear friend dearly.
On the day of Franco’s birthday, Arnold published a simple but loving message on his official social media.
“Franco would have been 80 today. He was everything to me – best friend, training partner, chess partner. I miss him dearly.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger – 7 August, 2021.
Arnold and Franco were the best partnership in the history of bodybuilding. From competing against each other, till Franco took his last breath. Arnold was always his best friend.
