Chris Cormier has high hopes for Derek Lunsford.

Bodybuilding legend, Chris Cormier, has teamed up with 2023 Mr. Olympia, Derek Lunsford.

In the latest edition of The Menace Podcast, Chris Cormier discussed how he expects his new client, Derek Lunsford, to look at the 2025 Arnold Classic USA.

Derek not only lost his title at the 2024 Mr. Olympia, but he fell to third place, behind Hadi Choopan, with Samson Dauda being declared the winner.

According to Chris Cormier, Derek wants to have more stage time, and his first challenge is the 2025 Arnold Classic, where he is the biggest favorite to challenge Samson Dauda, the favorite going into the show.

Chris Cormier believes, in less than two months, he can change Derek’s physique, and correct his weak points.

Dennis James, Milos Sarcev, and Jose Raymond, found Chris’ comments very hard to believe and even told him that he was being too biased, about his client Derek Lunsford.

From the facial expressions of Dennis James and Milos Sarcev, it was evident that they think Cormier is going overboard with his comments about Derek, and it will be almost impossible to correct a physique in two months.

Chris has put his reputation on the line with his confidence in Derek, and if Derek does not accomplish his goal, this will be a difficult defeat to swallow for both Derek and Cormier.

Chris Cormier said the same about Rubiel Mosquera

Just over a year ago, Chris Cormier was working with Rubiel Mosquera. Cormier was at Rubiel’s side, when he won his pro card in 2023 at the EVLS Prague event, fresh from his move from the Elite Pro (now IFBB Pro).

At that same event, after earning his pro card, Rubiel competed at the Olympia qualifier, and placed third.

The weeks following, Chris Cormier was praising Rubiel, even to the point of comparing him to the great 8X Mr. Olympia, Ronnie Coleman.

The rest of the bodybuilding world jumped on the band wagon, praising the young bodybuilder.

During the following months, Rubiel started to drop out of events, either because of visa issues, or personal matters to take care of.

Rubiel even decided not to compete at the 2024 Arnold Classic USA, something chris Cormier did not agree with, and he voiced his opinion on the Menace Podcast.

Finally, Rubiel decided to compete at the 2024 Dubai Pro, but the bodybuilding world, and especially Chris Cormier, was shocked by the posing routine that Rubiel performed.

Chris immediately disassociated himself from Rubiel’s performance, and this would finally convince Chris that allegedly, Rubiel was not the athlete for him.

Just as Chris is praising his new client, Derek Lunsford, Chris did the same with Rubiel.

Luckily for Cormier, Derek has a great resume, with two Olympia titles to his name, and hopefully, this new partnership will have the success Chris is hoping for.

The discussion about Derek Lunsford starts at 38:00.
